Another Beautiful Day For Blue Devil Nation

February 9, 2012 8:16 am

It was hard to imagine this feeling yesterday at this time. It still hasn't sunk in yet. I think mainly because of all I read and heard from the media over the past few days about how we just weren't on their level, etc. I began to buy in to it all. I just keep replaying the unc fans expressions when that shot went through. Glorious!

Well not a whole lot I can say but Rivers deserved to win and we helped him get him. We should have went on and beat you by 20 but we took our foot of the gas as usual and you guys got hot from three and had a few calls and plays go your way. TrueDukie I really don't think you are on our level and if I had to guess you would say the same if you were being honest. We have had a lot of bad luck this year losing two of our best players, Barnes being hurt, and now you guys come to Chapel Hill and three point us to death.

I still think we are one of the top 5 teams in the nation but I see our chances of winning it all slipping a little. College basketball has turned into if you get hot from three you can beat anyone and last night proved it again and we don't shoot the three well. I mean for you guys to score almost 40 more points then us from three is crazy and a little sad that college basketball has come down to a three point shootout in a lot of games. Anyway I think we will get our revenge in Cameron because I can't see you guys hitting that many threes or us tipping in you points in the next one. Great job by Rivers that guy is a player.

NCAA basketball is great because of the three pointers. I don't expect you to understand that Roy was simply out-coached last night. Whether you want to admit it or not he just isn't as good a coach as Coach K. Rivers out-played everyone on the floor including Barnes. He may be awful from here on out but he was sensational last night. Six threes and he played great defense. Barnes doesn't know what he looks like but he certainly saw his name on the back of his jersey as Rivers was driving by him consistently. But the days of four corners is over. That went away with phone booths and strobe lights. Coach K figured that one out and so he recruits shooters and guards while Roy recruits power forwards. Roy hasn't figured that one out yet.

Was a great game, congrats on the win.
I went on ESPN3 and watched the final few minutes again (since my glasses were tinted from beer last night).  Can anyone honestly say that the 3 crap calls Duke got in the last 1:40 didn't contribute significantly to UNC losing the game?  Curry traveled, no debating he took 4-5 steps.  If you didn't see that, you're blind.  That's 3 pts.  Next play Barnes is tripped intentionally at the free throw line, causing him to fall into a Duke defender which results in a charge.  Figure 1-2 points.  And a Plumlee pushing Zeller in the back causing him to tip the ball in vs grabbing it?  2 points.  You won, be happy that it was handed to you.

Douggie I don't question the fact that coack K is a better in game coach then Roy Williams. I think coach K is one of the greatest basketball minds of all time but telling a team to jack threes is not what I'm talking about. The way he can adjust to in game situations is really good and Roy is far behind him on that. For Roy to put and injured Barnes on your best driver and scorer was insane in my book and probably cost us the game to be honest. I also didn't question the fact that Rivers was the best player on the floor last night because he was and he was brillant.

While I agree the three point line made the difference last night I don't think it's the best way to win a National Championship. If you guys get cold from three you go home where we still do have a chance to win like last night we only hit 1 and was cold. I don't know I just have never been a fan of the inferior team getting hot from three and winning.  I have hated seeing all these dinky schools in the elite 8, final four, and even the National Championship game here lately. I wish they would move the three point line back and make it more about all around basketball then a three point shootout.

Coach K figured that one out and so he recruits shooters and guards while Roy recruits power forwards. Roy hasn't figured that one out yet.

Well we do have a really good three pointer shooter that would have really helped us this year had he not tore is ACL before the season started.

Make it 4 terrible calls in the last 2:30.  Unless Henson has go go gadget arms, he didn't touch that Kelly airball.

You apparently watched a different game than I did.  You probably felt like Calvin Johnson didn't catch that td pass against the Bears a few years ago either right?  You can honestly watch the link I put on and not see the foul and that Henson didn't touch it?  You truly are blind.

You're right. I can honestly say that you are not on our level.

Well I guess I was wrong I just figured after watching that game most people would assume we were the better team. I know last year even after we beat you guys I knew you guys had the better team we just had a better day the day we beat you. Actually after the game coach K was the first one to say he thought UNC was the best team in the ACC so I guess you and coach K disagree. We will see you again at Cameron and maybe there we will change your mind or maybe you guys will change mine we will see. Go Heels !!!!!!!!!

1) stop complaining about calls.  you're at home, you got the majority of the calls all night anyway... as expected, since again... you were at home
2) roy should have taken the air out of the ball with 3 mins to go but he didn't.  blame him if you must but truthfully, sometimes there isn't any blame to be had.  simply say, like roy did, the other team beat us and finished the game.   no need for blame.  zeller can be blamed or you could say zeller is the reason you were in that game in the first place.  his defense at the end of the game was more than adequate, it was just a good shot.
3) what was bullock doing that one time to rivers on the ground? cmon bullock.
4) this duke team still has a ways to go but if the defense improves and cook solidifies himself at the pg plus the plumlees continue their improved play, we'll be a top 5 team
5) will this duke team EVER box anyout out?!? kelly does it sometimes but the plumlee boys gotta box out and stop relying on their jumping ability for every rebound.  this is very frustrating to watch.

looking forward to the rematch already but we got some tough games coming up with maryland and then @ ncstate and @ florida state.  lets not overlook any of these 3 games.

Ummmm.... No. That game was poorly officiated ALL AROUND. Too many fouls on both teams... But for you to say UNC got the majority of them is just wrong. Duke was in the bonus by the 10 minute mark of the 2nd half!!! How can you honestly say UNC got the "majority of the calls"?

Ohhhh, here comes the whining. Crybabies always whine about the officiating or the lack of calls or something. Are you kidding me? Duke got the majority of the calls at Chump Hill? No way. Bottom line is either team could have won the game. Duke just won it. Maybe Roy should have all the players attend history class this week. It's ONE if by Land, TWO if by Sea, and THREE if by Rivers! Hahahahahahahahaha

Duke was called for 25 fouls and Carolina called for 22. Looks like the advantage went to Carolina. Looks like there could have been about another 6 to 8 fouls called for pushing off and offensive fouls that weren't. Benefit of the doubt went to Carolina. Duke played harder the last 2 1/2 minutes and Carolina shut down, couldn't hit FT's, and went without a basket during that stretch. That's the reason Duke won and UNC didn't. Someone always has to take credit away from the tough game that was played.

Duke fans aren't crying about not getting enough calls against Miami to help them win the game or the last second 3 pointer hit by FSU that should have been waived off because it was in Cameron. Give a fuggin break. Duke got outplayed in those games and against Miami couldn't hit the broad-side of a rim on a FT if it was staring them in the face.
