Tyson this has nothing to do with one or two players shooting threes. In fact I think you need a great three point shooter probably two on every team to be most effective and I wish we had some this year. It also has little to do with Duke and UNC for that matter because usually we are evenly matched. What I hate is a team that can't play with another team but they beat them by jacking three balls all game just hoping they get lucky and make a bunch. So basically I am talking about the VCU's and Davidsons that beat teams they have no business beating by jacking threes. Now this year Duke jacked threes to beat us and I thought it was a joke but usually I don't think Duke would take 35 threes to beat someone.
So while people want to keep bringing up the Duke game and say we should guard the three better that has nothing to do with this topic. Yes Duke beat us by shooting a ton of threes yes we need to guard it better but Duke is a good team not some team that will barely make the tournament then upset someone by hitting 20 threes. The point of this thread is the simple question do you like watching a team shoot 35 threes and win or would you rather see the team that plays an all around game have a better chance to win? I think in my opinion that if a team shoots 30 or more threes they should lose about every time because that shot should be so hard to make. So maybe if the three point line was moved back we wouldn't have to see so many three point shootout games because the shot would be harder to make. It might not work but in my opinion it would make the overall game in college better. Go Heels !!!!
Also let me say this alot of the threes Duke was hitting were NBA threes so that was some impressive shooting.
Okay I understand where you're coming from. I don't agree but i understand, fact is those VCU's and Davidson's would never win if the 3 pointer didn't exist. The team with all the Recruits (The UNC's) would always win.. Like the days of John Wooden's UCLA teams.. What fun would that be? To me, that's not how the game was intended to be played. . This game is beutiful because you don't have to be a superior athlete to win at it. Everybody has a chance, I guess it just depends on how you see the game.. My favorite NBA player of all time is John Stockton. John Stockton was not the fastest nor did he jump the highest but John Stockton still holds the record for most assists and steals in the NBA because he had heart. I love the fact that a regular guy can win at the game of basketball but that's just me. Good Post.Don't get me wrong Tyson, there is nothing wrong with the three point line. I grew up in the generation of the three point line, but when I break out those old tapes that my dad has gah I could watch them all day long. The running and gunning it was awesome. I just wish teams would become more run and gun instead of rely on a 3 point line every game. It is an art that is lost.
