All-Star Rosters Announced

February 9, 2012 9:24 pm

Can't say there's any snubs on the West side, Ellis has a case but Nash and Dirk are fan picks and get in because of their history in the league.

On the East side though I believe Josh Smith deserved to be in over Luol Deng, Paul Pierce, and maybe even Andre Iguodala.

Paul Millsap was definitely snubbed; 16.5 ppg  9.7 rpg  2.0 apg  52.3% FG is much better than what Dirk Nowitzki has done. I don't believe in lifetime achievement All stars.

And Greg Monroe has been alot better than Roy Hibbert. He is doing better in everything other than block shots than Hibbert has doen. So what he has better teammates around him; All Stars are not about team achievements.

Sadly Charles Barkley said it best tonight..just cuz you suck the least doesnt mean you're an all star. Moose will have his chance at plenty of all star games in the future..pacers are just playing better. I'm looking forward to watching him and knight in the rookie soph game

Nash is 4rth in FG%, leads the league in assist, is averaging a double double and doing this on a team with zero scorers to pass to. All at the age of 38. He deserves it.

I agree though, Dirk shouldn't have made it this year. He even said so. Millsap should have gotten picked over him.

All-Star Rosters Announced

Kevin Love made the All Star game last, and the Timberwolves were one of the worst teams. The Nets are terrible this year and Deron Williams gets in. I understand if we're talking about awards or the All NBA teams at the end of the year, as your team's success should factor in there. But this is just the All Star Game, where the best players are suppose to play. The most deserving should be in, not who's team is better.

Not a chance Hibbert deserves to be in over Monroe, no way it came be argued with logic.

Yeah Nash definitely deserves to be in I was just saying there's some other guys that deserve to be on the West side as well that didn't make it but Nash and Dirk got the spots due to history, moreso Dirk that it is because he's having a bad season.

As for Monroe well I think he's a better player than Hibbert but Hibbert's numbers are pretty good and he's more of a true Center than Monroe in terms of size and the way he plays. He's got good enough numbers and the voters probably believed the Pacers deserved at least 1 All-Star with the way the team is playing. I love Monroe absolutely love him and have been ecstatic since we drafted him. However the Pacers are a winning team and there is a great deal of stock that goes into playing for a winning team.

It's not always about numbers, you have to be a very good player that is contributing to team success. Right now the Pistons haven't had much success other than a 3 game week streak recently versus lowly teams. We'll be back soon enough though and Monroe will get plenty of All-Stars in his future.

There's a pretty big difference between Kevin Love slash Deron Williams and Greg Monroe...just saying.  I'm happy Hibbert made the All-Star game but will easily admit that he is the least deserving player on either roster.  The problem with the teams in the East (after the Bulls and Heat) is that they are complete team concepts...the 76ers, Hawks, and Pacers are all built to go 7 deep of very good but not elite players.  Seems to me as though the voters simply put in the best player from each of those three teams and that's it.

I still dont understand why people thought Pierce wouldn't make it. No way a market like Boston gets its team shut out unless they're at the bottom of the league. Add in the way Pierce played when Rondo was out and he was a no-brainer.

All-Star Rosters Announced

What hppened to the days when ONE player from teams was voted onto the All Star teams?!?!?  Looking at the East squad, are you seriously telling me that without Miami's "Big 3", there aren't two other players in the East that are more deserving to play?  C'mon already!  The All Star selection should be representative of player's abilities that are strewn throughout the league, not just a popularity contest, with multiple selections from ONE SQUAD.  The listing below needs to be changed.  Why not substitute John Wall for Dwyane Wade?  There are plenty of OTHER great players in the league.  Why not have them showcase their talents in an All Star game?  Of the Big 3 Heat players, LeBron is really the only consistently reliable player this season.  Sure, you can argue injuries to Wade, but why penalize the rest of the Eastern conference by just selecting the "popular" players.  Suggested "substitute" players are listed below.

East All-Stars:

G- Derrick Rose
G- Dwyane Wade  <-- JOHN WALL
F- LeBron James
F- Carmelo Anthony
C- Dwight Howard

R- Deron Williams <-- Brandon Jennings
R- Joe Johnson
R- Andre Iguodala
R- Chris Bosh      <-- Andrea Bargnani
R- Roy Hibbert
R- Luol Deng
R- Paul Pierce

West All-Stars:

G- Chris Paul
G- Kobe Bryant   <-- Rudy Gay
F- Kevin Durant
F- Blake Griffin
C- Andrew Bynum

R- Russell Westbrook  <-- Kevin Martin
R- Tony Parker      <-- Monta Ellis
R- Kevin Love
R- LaMarcus Aldridge
R- Marc Gasol
R- Dirk Nowitzki    <-- PAUL MILSAP
R- Steve Nash      <-- Raymond Felton
In the West, Dirk Nowitzki should not have been selected; likewise with Nash and Parker.  Why not flush these three guys and insert Milsap, Ellis and Felton?  Or Kevin Martin and Rudy Gay?  C'mon already.  These guys are EQUALLY deserving of playing in the All Star game.

It would truly be remarkable if the league actually loaded the All Star squads with no more than ONE player of a team.  Folks need to see players OTHER THAN the typical big market team players, showcasing their talents on the big screen.  The league needs to be bring All Star PARITY to the game.

^ there is no way that happens, or is even a good idea.  Also, WHY WHY WHY would anyone take Kevin Martin over Kyle Lowry?

I don't think it's as big a difference as you think. Those guys all take so much more shots and get so much more touches than Monroe does. If Monroe touched the ball 25 times a guy and shot the ball 18-20 times a game and play 40 minutes, he would be putting up alot higher numbers as well. Instead, he only takes less than 13 shots a game and gets 33 minutes.

And if I could fart dollar bills I'd have a ton of money.  It's a big difference.  Putting up big numbers on a bad team is much different than putting up big numbers on a good team, because a good team has more talent to take away your touches.  D-Will in NJ is less impressive than D-Will in Utah, but this year's K-Love is FAR more impressive than last year's since the T-Wolves have many more legitimate options to get the ball.

I am still trying to figure out why Tony Parker is such a bad choice.

The Spurs have played the hardest schedule in the entire league.  They are in first place.

He is the best player on a first place team that was challenged by good teams.

1st place team 18.9ppg 7.7apg while shooting 46% is very credible stats.

Who should have went instead?

1. Ellis - last place team  22.2pg 6.1apg 43%

2. Lowry - 3rd place team - 14.7ppg 7.6apg 39.9%

Something seems very wrong with that doesn't it? Start giving moose the touches that Tayshaun gets..i don't care if we gave him 30 million for no good reason.
