None of their 23 wins make the news, but they lose and it makes the front page. Very funny CBS... and the bracket projection for them was stupid. Can't believe CBS had them as a 3 seed, even if they finished undefeated the stupid selection committee would try to justify them as a 9 seed.
It's a shame that they were ranked that high. The pollsters should have some stones and vote them where they are talent-wise instead of their ranking against zero competition. It really makes the polls look stupid to have them 9th in the nation at ANY point during a season.
Huge game from Isaiah Canaan. Tough play at the end but he should not hold his head down; he kept his team in the game. Racers had a great run & Canaan was in the middle of it. Great job, young man.
Afraid the losing is not over for the racers still have road games against TSU and TTU. Sad but it wouldnt surprise me if they ended up a 13 14 seed at large bid with 4 losses.
The first line of this article bothers me...."what no other team had been able to do." They should have added "but what every power conference team would have done."
So you loose 1 game and you're a slouch! Are you kidding me??? Come on people! We play these people year end and year out. We have a better chance of loosing to an ovc team than any team outside our conference. Hats of to TN State they played a great game.
Any team that wins its first 23 games is a good team. However, congrats to Tenn State for a tough road victory. MS is a good team for sure, but their conference is a lot softer than the big b-ball conferences. Just look at how those Big 10 teams beat each other up. MS will be in the dance and make a respectable showing, perhaps with another loss or two prior to March.
This was bound to happen, they have had a great run...watching this all go down, I have seen them barely beat teams I have almost have never heard of. What they have done is great, but you put them up against some real competition...I have a feeling their record would be much different than it is right now.
I wasn't trying to knock the team. Proud of what they've done but clear their schedule back end heavy. Tennessee State and Tennesse Tech are the second and third best teams in the conference. SEMO is probably the 4th and they still have road games against them all plus the bracketbuster games against St. Mary's who are needing the win just as much to improve their seeding. That's their 4 toughest games since conference play started still to go. I still think they have shown enough this season that if they lose 2 more regular season and come up just short in the OVC they'll get an atlarge bid.
