UNC vs Virginia Game Thread

OK, Sorry realblue. Probably shouldn't resort to name calling. Uncalled for. Sorry. It just upsets me to see a post like that. I mean "heartbroken" that you won't be able see our Heels get "scorched at home"? Jeez!

I get carried away, yes I'll admit it. I just don't understand the STUPID stuff this team does sometimes. As talented as this team supposedly is, they shouldn't have lost to UNLV and get blown out at FSU, and the meltdown at HOME against Puke. This is where SOME of the blame falls on Roy. Zeller was out of position guarding Rivers (where was Bullock)? I've stomached some debacles (8-20 season w/Doherty) and the super-talent waste of the '97/'98 squad w/Jamison & Carter. I guess being spoiled w/great teams year after year has something to do w/it.

I bet you didn't know that with this win Roy Williams became tied with John Wooden for most wins in mens college basketball (664).  That puts Roy tied for 39th and by the end of the season, Williams should also jump ahead of the following coaches who are either retired or unemployed:

Dennis Bridges (666)
Gary williams (668)
Denny Crum (675)

Williams also enjoys the third highest winning percentage of any coach with 600 wins or more.  While I am sometimes critical of some of the things our teams do, I think it important to temper that criticism with a pat on the back for an outstanding career.

There is still a lot of basketball to be played and I still think we can pull this thing around and make a run to the Final Four.

I believe w/current wins, Roy is in 23rd place all time.

As it stands right now, if we continue to win and at least win 1 or 2 games in the ACC tourney, we will be a 2 seed. I kinda like our chances as a 2. We should get a decent draw without the pressure of having that 1 beside your name.

Yes, I think a 2 seed is all but a lock right now. You know Roy doesn't regard the ACC tourney highly so that could hurt if we have a quick exit but I still believe we are just a handful to cut down the nets. I just want a rematch w/UK.

Realbluefan made a very key point if we don't win the acc regular season title then we need to do well in the acc tourney to lock a two seed up. A early exit mix with others doing well in the their respected conference and we could slip to a three seed. I think we will win the acc regular season title and win one or two and bow out the tourney. I think we have to win the regular season bc I agree with Roy onthe conference tourney being a waste time for top teams. But I will say this duke and UNC will be fighting for a no1 seed so it's important we beat them and that they lose in conference tourney or we go further

I'm confident that the ACC will get a 1 seed team, either UNC or Puke. UNC must win out the season and lock up the title and then win one in the tourney to secure a 1 seed. Its gonna be tough to win at Cameron but I think (hope) they get revenge. I know I projected 6 losses in ACC play but I've changed my tune and stepped back from the ledge so they can win out the remaining schedule if they can stay focused on the goods at the end.
