Big 12 & Louisville

Welcome to the party wvu. L'ville makes sense as do sfu, cincy, and Memphis (well, not now since they joined the big east), but, l'ville might be holding out for the acc. Time will tell. My picks would be l'ville and sfu, but cincy is a big market, heck get em all.

Personally, I think Looey-Looey will be a good addition for the B12 all around.   West Virginia's addition gives this conference a much needed presence on the east coast and is helped by the Cardinals coming on.   Once the conference adds a couple more in the upper midwest/east, this conference will have a media presence in the bigger markets along the east coast that it desperately needs.   That has been the SEC's biggest asset in becoming the media darling it has become, they own the entire southeast part of the country and get early exposure on saturdays.  After all, there isn't much other quality games going on in the early slots on the east coast.

@WizArtist:
Your comment makes perfect sense. There is little doubt in my mind that Louisville probably will be the next addition. I, too, think we should focus east. I understand that Pittsburg may soon be available and, according to a website called eerinsider.com (a West Virginia fan written but an apparently extensively researched source), the Big 12 has unofficially inquired about the interest level in Clemson and Florida State about future membership and, according to this source, those two universities have already formed feasibility committees to investigate the feasibility of joining the Big 12. If you check this web site, scroll down to the topic "Big 12 Expansion Tracker." Now that would make for an interesting conference and accomplish the media presence you described above.

Go with wvmetronews.com and wvillustrated.com before eerinsider.com.  The eerinsider.com could probably work for...will let's say most of the guys on the WVU board use these two websites.

If you care for another Mountaineer opinion<

We are happy to be aboard.  We also believe it is inevitable, and desirable, to get at least to the 12 in our conference name.  While the CG game can hurt a team under the current BCS format, in the plus 1, it is less critical.

Who would we welcome?  The Ville would top our list.  While I would not mind raiding the ACC, since they are the original Pirates of the NCAA, I find it hard to believe FSU would leave for anything but the SEC.  Clemson might be a different result, though.  Cincinnati is a logical pick, and I think the USF Bulls are a sleeper.  They should go nowhere but UP.

I have to admit that most Mountaineer fans do not favor more western teams, just because we are out here on an island.  Pitt could be a great add, but it would have to be done quietly.  That university has to see how dysfunctional the ACC is as a football league.  It is more like the BE than the B12.

Anyway, I look forward to trading ideas and opinions with all of our new-found friends in the B12.

A big welcome to WVU and TCU this year from this guy....me. Im pretty stoked about the addition as TCU and WVU easily replace Mizzou and A&M. Louisville would be a great addition as well, especially in BBall. But as i have read many people stating a replacement for NEB is hard to come by, no offense WVU and TCU fans, you guys just dont have the same brand as those corn eating rednecks up north. To replace a name like that we would need someone with rich tradition, and the only school i can see the big 12 picking up with that kind of clout is Notre Dame. Although they havent been as productive on the field the past what, 30 years, but its the brand alone that can clone neb. So i would say bring on Loui, and try for Notre Dame as well. That would give some real good regional fix out there for WVU, and even a cincy pickup as well.

Okay guys... Here is my take on the B14 conference....

ADDITIONS;
1.  Pitt
2.  Clemson
3.  Cincy
4.  BYU

EASTERN DIVISION:
1.  Pitt
2.  Clemson
3.  Cincy
4.  WVU
5.  ISU
6.  KU
7.  KSU

WESTERN DIVISION:
1.  OSU
2.  OU
3.  UT
4.  TCU
5.  BU
6.  TTU
7.  BYU

This would gives us some incredible recruiting on the East and midwest areas.  Some entry into the Mountain West coast area, and of course keep us strong in the Central area.  A big plus would also be improving the new teams in their recruiting as well.  It would be a real kick in butte for the SEC, does the word demise come to mind.....  Go Big 14.... Time to roll...

osusooner66 I like your thinking but we don't need another primadona in byu. We already have texas. I don't think Pitt will come. Probably a better shot at FSU. But odds are no pitt no clemson and no fsu. Maybe louisville, Cinncinatti maybe South Florida and a long shot could be Southern Miss. This would be taking a shot at sec country. Other than that maybe Colorado St, UNLV and New Mexico.

Ahhh... another house divided.  My wife is a Rutgers grad, but as long as they do not come to the Big XII, I'll be safe.  I like your wife already and you can't be that bad of a guy.

If we were to go 14 I say why not go 16 and division out where you play all 3 in your division and then 2 from each other division every year

Northeast:
WVU
Cincy
Iowa St
Louisville

Northwest:
OU
OSU
Kansas State
Kansas

Southwest:
Texas
Baylor
Texas Tech
TCU

Southeast:
Clemson
Florida State
S Miss
South Florida

If Notre Dame went to the NE division then we put Louisville in the Southeast and not add one of the two Florida schools.

Bad, How would you play out the conference championship with 4 subdivision champs?  4/2 ?  or would you create 2 divisions with 2 each subdivisions?  North vs South winners?  Would be a helluva conference...   Good balance based on current teams strengths.
