Good thing the Indians avoided arbitration! Asdrubal is probably the best player on this team and if he has another good year then I expect the Tribe to give him a nice multi year deal.

Glad they got this out of the way. Here's hoping they can still sign him to a long term deal before the season starts, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

One -year contract;this is amazing to me. If he has a decent year what will they do then? If he has a great year, he'll be a goner. See, this proves the Indians' owners have no long-range plans to win because if they did they'd start making real moves on securing names who were out there this past off-seson for FA's. It openly shows that the running of a major sports franchise is just a way to make a buck without extending your bank account to the point of being broke. These owners have so much money, yet don't want to use it to truly try and gain a successful season and title. If it happens then they can make money from its success. If not, they've suffered no loss and just move on to the next try. The bottom line is getting through a season with no money lost. It's a business.

I for one do not think that Asdrubal Cabrera played over his head last year.I'm not necessarily saying he's going to continue to improve but I can definitely see him doing what he did last year for the next 5yrs.or so & there also may be an uptick in some categories.I surely don't see any regression in his play or stats either for that matter.

As a big Tribe fan I am afraid to say that Asdrubal won't sign with the Tribe long term. He'll be Jeter's replacement in NY. I wish the Dolans would sell this team to an owner who can spend like a winner.
