Does Matsui have anything left in the tank?

Hideki Matsui has had a very productive career and certainly could be talked about when he is eligble for Cooperstown. Last year he started slow but finished with a flourish. For a one-year deal at the right price he could be a great late pinch hitter.

I don't think there's any real argument that will get him into Cooperstown.  He's going to be 38 in June and he has a career .285 average, 173 HR's, 753 RBI's, 1239 hits... maybe if he came over in his mid 20's and kept these numbers up he'd have a chance, but he didn't come over until he was almost 30.

If he'd sign for say, $1 million or less, I guess you could take a flier on him, but I think he's still planning on having more of a full time role with a team than a rarely used pinch hitter.
