Orange to the Bucket pickem stats SU@UofL

It's been so long, I am not sure anyone on the current SU roster has won a game against UofL.  I would think cardinal feathers are starting to taste a bit dry at this point.  I see no issues for either team coming into Monday nights game.  Blacksheer looked great in his first college game.  UofL fans everywhere are talking up a storm about this young man.  Good to see it.  And this thread has a couple of UofL fans in fansince66 and twill who stop in to give me a hard time.  I thrive off that.  Love it in fact.  Its good to have some diversity.  Though the Cards were expected to be ranked and are not at this moment....seeing the cards climbing back into the top25 is happening at the right time.  Good Game fans and twill.  It ends here for your boys.  Expect a butt whoopin.

The rules (hogwild)  Wink are:

OH AND THE STREAK I STILL ALIVE!!!!     Like FRANKENSTEIN, the monster that Boeheim created when he gave RICK PITINO his first coaching job and sent him on a recruiting trip for his honeymoon then allowed him into the inner sanctum of the SYR ZONE is still alive and breathing.

Pitino, long a man to man defesive coach, has morphed into a proponent of this morphing zone defense that LOU now employs well over 50% of the time. But it has so many man to man principles that teams are often confused as to what plays to run to attack it. In this respect it is similar to the SYR zone, a 2-3 zone that is so much more than just a 2-3 zone. Like most zones, the best way to attack it is with quick passes to free up shooters in the corners. The same thing applies to SYR, one of the best passing teams in the country. LOU has several excellant corner shooters in KURIC ,CHRIS SMITH, RUSS SMITH & possibly BLACKSHEAR, who buried two from there Sat but has only the one game to go by.

Dribble penetration is negated against both these teams as you have the two leading shot blockers in the BIG EAST guarding the rim. Drive and kick can be successful but stolen passes with your point guard in the lane lead to runout baskets, a stat I think will be crucial in this game. SYR gambles more with their zone, LOU presses then tries to get you to use the shot clock up and take a bad shot. Both are effective as each team ranks in the top 5 in the nation in at least 2 defensive catagories. They keys are how many 3s does SYR surrender vs. LOU's ability to force open court turnovers with their press. Fatigue will not be a factor as each team goes 8 deep easily, more when necessary. Reboundng has been iffy for both teams though LOU has raised their rebounding margin to +6 in this current streak, but they have been outrebounded in games they lost. SYR's rebounding has been the subject oof much discussion so I won't bother to add to it.

I think it gets BLOOD SIMPLE here, if LOU hits more than 10 threes and/or SYR has more than 15 turnovers LOU wins. If LOU shoots poorly from the corners and/or SYR has less than 10 turnovers, SYR wins. Anywhere in the middle is going to come down to  last second possesion, which is what will probably happen. Both teams want a fast pace so stats could get pretty high but the defenses will be good enough to keep them from the ridiculous state.

So I would predict LOU with freshers legs and a little more rest time pulls out maybe the best BIG EAST game to date.

In my opinion ... a key to this game will be for 'Cuse  to get steals and get out on the break. The Orange appear to dare opponents to shoot 3's, and Kuric for "Lew-uh-vuhl" has recently done a good job knocking them down. He's 9 for 13 from 3-pt land against the Orange in the past two meetings, and averaging an impressive 22.5 points. If you recall Scoop, who scored a season-high 21 points against Uconn on Saturday, has nearly matched Kuric in the last two contests, scoring 20 in each meeting. I see Kris Joseph stepping up his game, as he did against the Hoyas, to lead Syracuse to victory ... GO 'CUSE!

Sorry Fans, not this time, KJ and Scoop will make sure of that!  This game is the second part of their exorcism of demons past.  Ask Gasman how part one went earlier this year?  All you Cards fans will be crying in your beers when Melo serves up a facial on Kuric.

All this talk is cheap and you have no need to apologize to me for losing and falling back towards the pack. I'm counting on CALHOUN to make a final appearance when UCONN plays SYR in their second to last home game to say goodbye to his longtime rival JB(I would say longtime friend but I'm not sure that "NOT A DIME BACK" has any real friends) and announce his retirement so he doesn't spoil senior night in their last home game. UCONN will be inspired and play their best game of the season and hang that third loss on SYR that will make LOU @ SYR the game for the conference championship on the last day of the season.  On a side note, the winning lottery numbers are 4, 5, 14, 25, 26, and 9 the POWERSTREAK NUMBER.

The curse will end and the demon will be exorcised, but I think it will have to wait until the rematch at the dome. I would love to see the Orange win this at L'Ville, but Pitino seems to understand the Cuse weaknesses. Should be a good game, but only a complete performance by SU will allow them to pull this off. Haven't seen too many of those of late, especially in the rebounding department.  Hope I'm wrong, but it looks like 25-2 !  Cry

As everybody knows, KJ and Scoop are winless against Louisville. Everyone will be ready. It will be very tough but I think that in their senior year, they get 2 Ws against the Cardinals. Louisville has gutted it out after their losing stretch. Congratulations to them; shows more than Pittsburgh or Connecticut. But in this 6-win streak of theirs, they've faced 6 teams with losing records in the Big East standings... nobody in the top 7 in the Big East standings. Syracuse is a much higher calibre than the 4-8, 4-9, 6-7 teams they've been beating recently. Louisville is 2-3 against top 25 teams. This time tomorrow, 2-4. Here goes...

Go Cuse!!!  Big game for Jardine and Joseph last time playing at Lousiville lets get them a win.  Having a feeling we are going to have to shoot well in this game to get a win, hopefully we have broken out of our shooting slump now after these last 2 games.

Reading the pregame scouting report on the CARDS CHRONICLE and I notice JIM BURR is officiating thiis game. HATTIE thinks SYR might have a better chance now.  THE STREAK is currently going on it's FIFTH YEAR so anything but a LOUISVILLE win is uncharted water for everybody not named COACH.

Can't believe I've missed the last couple games, don't know what has been wrong with me. But the Cuse has been fairly impressive in those, especially in pulling away from UCONN at the end of the game. I 100% think Louisville will win this game, but I will be picking Syracuse because virtually every 'Cuse fan has them and I don't want to lose a point if they do end up with the win (which I would love). So here it goes:

Any of you all going to be on gametracker tonight. If SAT was any indication, I will probably be the lone LOU representative so you can all pay me back for trolling this thread today. I must say that the SYR fans have a much larger following on gametracker than any other school I have seen since jonvi told me how to use it last weekend. I even was on it for the UK-VANDY game and there were maybe 5 UK fans and 1-2 VANDY fans. I HAVE to watch the UK games to keep my wife happy, but I'm glad she's not on gametracker reading my posts!!!!Surprised It was funny that the UK fans thought I was one of them until I made a comment after VANDY came back and took that brief lead in the second half. Then the hate started to flow pretty good. LOL!!!!

I expect tonight's game to be ugly because of the defensive FG % that both teams rank so highly in and will probably still be undecided in the last minute.  But really good BEAST basketball is generally ugly and rough unlike that sissy ball they play in the ACC. I do hope SYR and PITT beats the crap out of a few teams in that league when they finally leave. And by beat the crap out of them, I'm not making an reference to the score of the game. MAN'S GAME!!!  Expect nothing less tonight and I wish you all as close to good luck as my LOU allegiance will allow. May nobody get hurt and let's watch what should be one of the most interesting games of the year, especially if KURIC sticks a 3 point corner dagger in BOEHEIM'S eye to decide the game.
