LOCK THREAD CONCEPT -

This thread has been created for all of us to share our expertise with everyone else to benefit the group.

THIS IS NOT A PICKING CONTEST!

PLEASE make special note of this!!! If you have an area of expertise - Pac-10, NBA, Soccer, MLB, Big East, NHL, etc. - please make some LOCK choices from your area of expertise when you have a game you are confident enough in to call it a "LOCK". The difference between a PICK and a LOCK is that a PICK is a game you like, a LOCK is a game that you KNOW. We are here to help each other win. If you are claiming your choice is a LOCK, and you really have NO true knowledge of that game, then you are just cheating us and posting your PICK just for attention and to see your name on the board.

RULES FOR POSTING -

We take it upon ourselves to donate our time and track everybody's LOCK every day, as long as you agree to do your part by doing a few simple things. We will not track your LOCKs if you do not follow these rules. You are welcome to still post your PICK or card, but unless you do the things below, we won't be putting your LOCK on the spreadsheet.

- Post only 1 LOCK per day.  You may post a MAXIMUM of 4 LOCKS per week.  A week starts on Monday, and ends on Sunday.  Choose NCAA, NBA, NFL, or NHL.  You do not have to stay in one sport.  Spread them around if you like.

- No "buying" points for LOCKS.

- We want the LOCKS posted early enough so we can all benefit . If the LOCK is not posted within 30 minutes of the scheduled CBS start time the LOCK will not count.

- No other "line-manipulations: like teasers, etc

- First half or mini lines are OK.  No second half or quarter lines. Time constraints make second half lines too tough to track.   

- No parlays. Period.

- Props are OK as long as you give a site where we can check the line.

- Hockey, baseball, and soccer plays need to be -129 or better.  No HUGE favorites for LOCKS.  Anything -130 and over, take the -1.5 goals or runs if you feel like it is still a LOCK.

- Do not try to cheat on lines. We, as a group, are all over the lines and every time someone gives a stinky spread, it is always called out. If the line is off, the LOCK doesn't go into the spreadsheet.

- LOCKs MUST be posted 30 minutes before the time CBS says the game is set to go off, anything less than 30 minutes the LOCK will not count.

And, THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE!

You must give an original explanation as to why you KNOW this LOCK will win. And don't just "stat" us to death. Tell us about the game. And if you are going to try and fool us by cutting and pasting from another website, at least figure out how to remove all the HTML and other garbage. People on this thread are all over the internet and will find your plagiarism. I guarantee it. You can use Last 10, ATS, etc., numbers to support your argument, but stats from a gambling website are not an explanation. They are stats that any of us can get anywhere on the internet. Also, how about if you have actually SEEN the team play that you pick. I'd say that if you haven't seen a team play at least a few times, you can't really be an expert on the said team.

Twolves TT over 91 - ScoGuan hit on a good point that I too follow when he Locked Mavs over Twolves 2 days ago saying Love might hurt Wolves in 1st game back off suspension, I believe in certain instances a star coming back will detract from chemistry 1st game back and it proved to be true. Now I see Twolves back in harmony and ready to bust out b/c guys are playing well just coming up short lately and chomping at the bit for a win. Orl is certainly capable of winning but needed Richardson making 9 3pt'ers to just get by Bucks. I think Love will give Howard a batlle down low and Minn have more than enough shooters to keep this one close if not outright win and will fight to the end. GL

Sorry for the intrusion on Camby's thread.

IOWA ST+8 1/2 at BAYLOR. The scariest part of this is envisioning Royce White bringing the ball up the court being pressured by Pierre Jackson. The Cyclones let their big man bring up the ball and start the offense much of the time. Statistically these teams are very similar but Baylor has failed to cover the spread in 7 of their last 8 games and the last 5 in a row. Iowa St. has only failed to cover in 1 of their last 7 and that 1 was a tie not a loss. They are a solid well-coached team. Baylor has been struggling lately scoring an average of about 63 points in their last 5 games while giving up 66 on average. The Cyclones have scored an avg. of 71 while giving up an average of 64 over the same span. The Bears have been huge underacheivers and everyone is waiting for them to wake up. There's always the chance that could happen here but this is not a lop-sided matchup going in and I see decent value in taking the points and the team that comes to play every game.

Good Morning Everyone!

I went 1-2 yesterday on posted plays which brought an end to my lackluster week. My record on posted plays is 55-51 (2 Unit Plays) and 5-1 (Locks, 5 Unit Plays). Last week I went 4-8 (2 Unit Plays) and 1-0 (5 unit plays) for a total of -4.3 Units. I will try and rebound this week. It isn't a very big card tonight but an early lean is Iowa St +8.5 but I will look closer into this game before I decide to make a play on it or not.

I posted an early look last night on the KU-KSU game, but couldn't find this thread to do the same.

At the time I posted to take KU -3.5 and on 5dimes currently I see the line at KU -4.  I still like a play on the visiting Jayhawks at -4, as I think they will win this one going away.  KU has owned KSU at Bramlage in Manhattan - while it's true that KSU has won there 2 out of the last 4 years, in those years it took a great effort by a star player to give The wildcats the wins.  Michael Beasley had 25 in 2008 and last year Jake Pullen had 38.  This blow-out win by KSU is still in the consciousness of the Jayhawks, who will be only too happy to get a modicum of revenge tonight.  Although KU calls Mizzou their rival, this KSU game is very important to Bill Self and he lets that be known to his team; he will not pull his starters in this one even if the lead is well in hand until the clock dips below one minute.  Self has had this game circled for a year now.  It's a big game for KSU fans as well, but they don't have the firepower to compete this year.  KSU because they have no star player - Mcgruder is the closest thing they have and Texas double-teamed him and held him to zero points in the second half (after 11 in the first) on Saturday - will have to have better than average games from at least 5 players in their rotation to compete with the Jayhawks, and that will not happen.  The home crowd will help the Wildcats, but if KU gets out to an early lead this crowd can become a no factor pretty easily.  They are a crowd used to losing to KU and a crowd who knows that this group of Wildcats is not really very good.  They will bring effort and hopefully intensity, but against a solid team like KU those things cannot make up for a lack of scoring.  Ku has the better players, the better offensive in both a wide open game and in a half court game, the better coach, and will have two of the best players on the court tonight in Thomas Robinson and Tyshawn Taylor.

Lay the 4 points and take KU tonight.

My lean on the ISU - Baylor game is in line with Redmark - 8.5 points is too much to give a solid Iowa State team especially when Baylor's psyche is in question after losses to KU and Mizzou. 

Morning gang..Was a little intoxicated yesterday, which is something I rarely do, I was over with my neighbour drinking Hennessy. It no doubt, "snuck up on me" and put me on my arse fairly quickly.. Funny thing is I just checked my betting account, and I had a heck of a day. I some how managed to go 5-1.

REDMARK has already posted his lock play of Iowa St. I was already looking at that game, and I'm tempted to take the points with Iowa St as well...Public will always back Baylor in this sort of game, ..Iowa St. flies under the radar, and shows up to play every night. Baylor has been in a bit of a funk lately, and this game has the makings of a tight battle.

Looking over additional plays, and will definitely make an effort to get my plays posted...Have to tie up a few loose ends today, should eventually have things wrapped up around noon time, which should give me plenty of time to handicapp a few games.

Hey Guys,  I'm not taking anybody's side in this bickering that's gone back and forth for a while. Like I tell my children I don't care who's to blame just stop the bickering. Just post your plays and move on, who cares how many plays somebody plays or what their record is if it doesn't effect you money wise who cares. Lets all be grown ups like I know we are and make money. That's the whole reason we all come here to begin with. Right! Good luck on all your plays and lets make money.

Rattler, I hear what you're saying but I have a different parenting style. If I have one problem child that causes trouble for everyone I don't tell all the kids to shut up because I don't care whose to blame. I would think that the problem child would not learn that they are accountable for their actions. But I do appreciate the reference to children. I think ignoring the problem and hoping it goes away is definitely the grown up thing to do. GL

If you don't care about the amount of plays and the records, then don't care about the bickering. It wont effect your money either. Adam Sandler made an album called "They're all gonna laugh at you" This board is "blessed" with it's very own Toll Booth Willie. People comment to him accordingly. It's not going to stop no matter how much either you and I wish it so. When CBS allows people to ignore others this will get better. Send them some feedback...I did.
