For three days all we heard about was Tiger, Tiger and more Tiger. Was anybody else in the tournament? Oh yeah, what's his name Bill Nicklesen or something like that. And he beat Tiger. Crazy. When is Tiger playing next? I don't want to waste my time on any tournament that he is not in and really not interested in any other players! Let's just name it the TGA 9Tiger Golf Assoc.) not the PGA.

It is BEYOND sickening that the headline about Phil winning has to include a guy who finished 15th place. I am so sick and tired of this tabloid journalism being forced down our throats. Oh, to those brainless ones who will call me the so overused term of "hater" I have nothing against the man in 15th place. My complaint (and I am not alone) is the so called journalists who can't write a golf story without mentioning the name of one certain golfer. It is honestly a joke!!

When Tiger, and to a lesser extent, Phil, are in contention people watch. I'm guessing the ratings for this round will blow away any other except perhaps a major. I know I was curious enough to watch for a while and I watch almost no T.V.
These are two of the 12 greatest players ever. It's like Nicklaus-Palmer in a way and it doesn't happen too often. So lay off the media, they are delivering what peoople WANT to read..

Tiger hasn't won in more than two years, so why is he even the focus of the coverage any more?. focus on who wins. The last time I checked, it's called the PGA TOUR, not the TWIT (Tiger Woods Invitational Tour).

say what you want, Tiger Woods has the most wins of any active player on tour, regardless of his last two years - why is he the focus? because he brings in more viewers than any golfer in our generation, people either want to see hie win again or falter badly.........there is no in between.......the reason all everyone heard about Tiger, Tiger, and more Tiger is because he dominated the GAME for a long time.....get over it, he's playing better than he has in 2 years and is a gear away from playing great again.........

Phil is the story. He is 41 years old and played one of the best rounds of his life. Tiger may win again, but he obviously should no longer be the only story in the PGA. Celebrate the sport and all of the great players, not just Tiger.

A true Lefty/Tiger rivalry would be the best thing that could happen to US golf right now. Tiger's swing is 3/4 of the way back; it holds up for three rounds but the changes don't hold up under the pressure of the final round yet. It's just a matter of reps now. As for that rivalry, Tiger and Lefty have more in common than a lot of people think they do. We'll leave it at that for now.

Wow, what a final round charge! It's too bad we missed most of it because CBS was showing a D-Rate Big 10 basketball game. By the time CBS cut to the golf coverage, the die was almost cast. The last 25 minutes of the basketball game was a foul/free throw shooting fest. WTG CBS. Bums

Earth to PGA fans, the fact that a sports blog the likes of CBS has their sites message boards riddled with threads...LIKE THIS ONE,all over the Top 50 proves he is the story. Good, bad or indifferent Tiger Woods moves the needle,i for one want to see the greatest golfer i have ever witnessed make runs at majors and any tourney he competes in with hopes he breaks through for victory, his ability at 80%=90% is better than 75% of professional golfers currently on any tour. Look at the golfer not the human being with personal transgressions, many of us have had them, his are just magnified by the media paid to report/write about it,this thread is one of many about Tiger Woods. When he wins another major, that feat alone will generate more talk than anything Mickelson may ever do.

Waiting for this match up today was like waiting for the Pats-Giants in the Super Bowl. Tiger will probably win again but it wont be because of domination or fear by other players. He had no excuse today-He is well from all physical problems and has his swing down enough to compete. His problems now are mental. It's like when the bully gets his face punched, he loses all his mystique and is just another kid on the playground. I'm not calling him a bully, just using as a comparison. He no longer is a cinch to get up and down 50% of the time inside 100 yds. or 90% makes on putts inside 10 ft. Phil crushed him like he used to do unto others.

First give credit where credit is due Phil played one of the finest rounds you will see in not the best of conditions. To Tigers credit he took his beating like a man. I didnt see him chucking clubs dropping F bombs or sicking his caddie after an old woman who wanted him to sign something. At this point it seems to be more mental than physical with Tiger. He has lost his edge so now once in contention he has to figure out how to win again. the harder he tries the worse he plays. I think if he forgets about winning and just plays each hole to the best of his ability he will win once again but the 1st one will be the toughest to come bye.

IF he EVER Wins another MAJOR. That is Highly Doubtful. Tigger is WASHED UP. He even looks OLD ready for the Old Timers Tour. Look at that comb-over the way he brushes his hair forward to cover his BALD Head. Tiger is TOAST

I am tired of hearing all of this nonsense about Tiger being so close. When is he finally going to break through. In how many tournaments in the last 2 years since his life fell apart did he implode in the 4th round. Answer: Plenty. I think the reality of the situation is that he just does not have it in him to win nearly at the same clip as he used to. Maybe he'll get lucky and win one, but I don't see him winning a major or being nearly as relevant as he has been in the past.

That was a great performance by Phil. Tiger looked rattled by Phil's game. He looked tight on putts and didn't look like he was having any fun at all. Tiger is in the category like the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots and LA Lakers, no matter how bad or good the season is going for their opponents, they are gonna get that opponents best game. Preparation by the opponents are hard and long because they know the world will be watching. The Tiger mystique is gone....for now...atleast till he wins a few tournaments. That being said, I think this loss really embarrassed Tiger, I know it did for me being a Tiger fan, I think he will work harder than ever before his next tournament. Hopefully this loss is a blessing in disguise. Congrats to Phil, I'm glad he won and kept the title in the US for a change.

Tiger was at the head of the "i'm close" line over the last couple years. Almost anyone who watchd him could see that he wasnt. The firs time he's looked close was at te Australian Open in November (might have been the Aussie Masters, not sure) and at the Prez Cup. I think he actually is close now. Whether that means he progresses enough to win remains to be seen. The fact that he's been at or near the top of the leaderboard in his last 3-4 tournaments speaks pretty well of his progress.
