2012 Schedule

I think they (the Big X-2 and their UTerus schedulers) are USING the Sooners to garner support with the home crowds of the Mountaineers and HornyToads by sending OU to play THERE.   Kind of sucks for OU unless they really develop chemistry early and finish out with a kick that could put them in some rare company by end of season.   They will certainly have played a schedule that will be more potent than any of the average SEC or PAC-12 teams.    Here's hoping for some quick development, a healthy injury free season, and some good old Sooner Magic to return us to the top!

from what I've heard, OU's first game will be an away game vs UTEP and the 2nd game will be in Norman, vs Fla A&M.

The TBDs have filled in.  Not thrilled with the OOC schedule.  Not at all.  I understand it but still...

Oklahoma football: Sooners to open season at UTEP then host Florida A&M

OU FOOTBALL — The rest of the University of Oklahoma football team's non-conference schedule was released Wednesday. The Sooners already had a date scheduled with Notre Dame and added UTEP and Florida A&M to the schedule.

I also dislike the bye week schedule.  Maybe I'm just getting old and cranky.  But two bye weeks in September?  Really?????

Kind of foolish, isn't it?  Maybe there will be some revamping and a game will be moved so another bye week can take place in November, when it can do some real good.  The schedule Gods have not been kind to OU....again.  I mean, OU has to go on the road to play both of the newcomers in the league?  That really is ass backwards.  And in the last 3 weeks OU gets TCU, OSU and WVU in succession?  Unreal.

2012 Schedule

Come on guys, you always talk about how the Sooners don't back away from competition like the SEC powderpuffs.... Well this schedule is going to take the Sooners to the NCG even if they lose one game on the way.  If the Sooners are a top contender they should be able to handle it.  Last year they couldn't and weren't...
Maybe they could schedule in extra game with some team that is worthy and also in need of tougher scheduling.  Not sure what the limit is on games.  But my take is, bring on the 2012 season/schedule, the Sooners will be ready....

Actually, OSUSOONER, my complaint is with UTEP and Florida A&M.  Too weak of an OOC.  Yes, Notre Dame is on the schedule, in Norman, but that late in the season the big question is will they be ranked?  If not, it does OU no good.  Hopefully it will be a good year for ND and they will be in the hunt.

Not saying OU is backing away from competition at all.  I just wish the bye weeks weren't virtually back to back and then finish the season with back to back to back tough games.  Yes, if OU survives late part of the schedule they will be sitting pretty.  And OU needs a challenge, it would seem, to take care of business.  But still...

Not saying don't bring it on....just saying I wish it had been managed a lot better.  Two bye games in September?  Playing both TCU and WVU on the road?  Not an easy road.  But, it is what it is.
