I see the Irish decided to use "Enter Sandman" on kickoffs.  I look forward to the Irish finally come to "Bleaksburg" and see the best usage of the song firsthand.  Don't be surprised if there are reports of Touchdown Jesus jumping around before the game Tongue out.

With all of Syracuse and Pitt's ups and downs they ought to fit right in with the rest of us.

With the addition of SU to the ACC, I now have my entire family in one conference (father is an SU grad, Step-mom is a Duke grad, Brother is a NC State fan, Wife is a Va. Tech grad, In-Laws are all FSU grads).  The only anomily is my step brother who attended Princeton and graduated #1 in his class.  What a black sheep he is huh?

Shame on him! Doesn't he know the ACC schools are the best academically speaking? I guess they probably didn't teach him that at Princeton.  Laughing

They don't teach 'em that at Vanderbilt, either. What is the world coming to?

Touchdown Jesus always likes a good beat; it is 1st down Moses that really gets down.

The addition of Notre Dame to the ACC could prove to be very interesting.  Football and basketball are obviously the big draws and will garner the most attention.  However, think about men's and women's soccer and lacrosse teams - the ACC and Notre Dame are very competitive, and usually
produce a national champion.

I think ND joining the ACC makes perfect sense both on the sports level, and academically as well.

I just can't wait for the Irish Bball team to win the ACC Championship....Wink

MBG - You are going to have to fight your way through the other BE schools in order to claim that ACC Championship.  You are right on the Olympic sports.  ND has been a regular opponent in most of the non-revenue sports...makes good sense from that standpoint.  Just wish they would have gone all in on football, but I understand.

I still can't quite decide on which school I am going to adopt now that I have sworn off GT for good after 45 years.

The finalists are:

Notre Dame
North Carolina
North Carolina State
Florida (believe it or not)

I can't decide because I like all of the ACC schools. I even like Pitt, Syracuse and Notre Dame. Maybe I can just be a fan of 15 schools? Wow, I'm going to be like a SEC bandwagoner except I am going to be an ACC bandwagoner instead.

Look geneh, I'm a huge Notre Dame fan, a Phillies fan, Eagles fan, and Flyers fan.  Been so for as long as I can remember.  I would never give up my loyalty to those teams.  Period.

Notre Dame has been in the crapper for something like 10 years now, yet I back them to the hilt.  Same goes for the rest of my lineup.

Don't throw GT under the bus just yet, but I would suggest backing the Irish....could be one of those charmed seasons.  Sealed

Been there, done that, even got the T shirt with the BE teams.  It's UNC, Duke, and FlSt. that the Irish need to be competitive with.

As a BC fan, I would vote against Notre Dame.  Historically, they'd been a rival of GT, so that's quite the flip for you, as well.  I do respect the school and their traditions, but I just can't convince myself to root too strongly for them.

I'd go with Wake Forest, even though you didn't list them.  I can't speak for people in the Southeast, but I don't think I've ever met a WF football fan (sans alumni).  They're never going to win a national championship or anything like that, but Jim Grobe coaches 'em up pretty well.  Expectations are never high, so they're usually met or exceeded...

Oh, that's right, Billy Packer went to Wake Forest.  That knocks 'em down a peg in basketball, but I suppose Tim Duncan offsets that.

But, yeah, that Switzerland comment is spot on.

@Geneh_32.....Please tell me you're only joking about swearing off GT. You never swear off your school!! Maybe I'm just a SUPER HOMER due to Clemson being the place of my birth and all, but I find that to be a very disquieting statement.

@Geneh_32.....Please tell me you're only joking about swearing off GT. You never swear off your school!! Maybe I'm just a SUPER HOMER due to Clemson being the place of my birth and all, but I find that to be a very disquieting statement.

I am not an alum from GT. If I were, I could see your point. I just have been a fan for more than 45 years because my dad supported them because he went to Georgia State and they had no football team at that time. So we were GT fans.

Many former GT fans have sworn them off over the years and have gone over to become Georgia fans. At least I'm not that disloyal! And why, do you ask? GT's BOT just doesn't care about football anymore while UGA does care about it in a huge way. Fans get tired of supporting a team when their "owners" just don't care if they win or lose.

Want proof? It took them several days to get rid of Al Groh after the Middle Tennessee debacle. I would have fired him DURING the game; UGA would have fired him during or immediately after the game, no doubt about it.

They won't fire Paul Johnson at the end of the season. Why not? Because mediocrity in football has become the Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket standard and the BOT just doesn't care.

So if they don't give a rat's ass if GT wins or loses why should the GT fan care? Maybe we shouldn't. So I don't care anymore. I hope they lose every game they play until they get serious about their football program. Until then they need to drop football altogether or go down to FCS level with all of the other scrubs. Losing just doesn't cut it in the South and it never will be an accepted way of life anywhere except in the GT boardroom.

The last great game GT played and won was the 1999 Gator Bowl against Notre Dame - and I was there!

So please don't preach to me about loyalty. Georgia Tech football has sucked out loud for 12 years now and I am sick and tired of it. The BOT attempts to solve the fan problem by bringing in a coach who runs a sometimes exciting "gimmick" offense in an attempt to make the fans happy. Screw them. I am sick of it already. Take that crap somewhere else because it don't fly in my house anymore.

I grew up watching and enjoying ACC football and I will continue to do so. Just I will not do it at Bobby Dodd stadium anymore until they change their attitude about football totally.
