If you didn't see the video of Kyrie challenging Kobe to a one-on-one game, you should. It's pretty revealing about Kobe's "professional" interaction with his colleagues. I realize that sports isn't your typical professional environment, but your teammates - ESPECIALLY headed into the olympics - deserve at least your respect and encouragement. Kobe would drive me crazy as a teammate. It's all about him, all the time.

He should be able to fully recover, but this is a bummer because he will be out for summer league. On a brighter note it seems the Cavs will be in a monster 3 team trade with LA and ORL and will be getting Andrew Bynum.

Irving challenged Kobe. Make whatever excuses you want. If you are dumb enough to challenge one of the best players of all time and show him so little respect, then you get what you asked for. Jordan or Bird or Magic would have done the same thing. Bird totally humiliated Drexler during Drexler's rookie year when Drexler thought he was so good. Irving's obviously got issues and needs to mind his temper. Hope he's ready to pay put that $50,000. Kobe wasn't the jacka$$ who hit the wall. Pay up, rookie. He should be grateful that the lesson only cost him a few bucks.

Genius Alert!! Kobe may have BEEN the greatest player in the game, but for the last two years, his teams are 1-8 in the second round of the playoffs. W/o D-Fish, Bryant's 2005 Lakers were a lottery team and the Phil Jackson coached 2006 and 2007 Lakers exited in the first round each time. With all the accolades heaped on PJ and KB24, neither has done much with the Lakers w/o D-Fish. It's pretty clear that D-Fish is responsible for the Laker success.

Apparently you've never played sports before.  I don't like Kobe (although I will cheer for him during the olympics since he is representing the USA), but this isn't really a reason to bag on him.  Him being a douchebag is the reason to bag on him.

Every time I see a story on team USA basketball, it's either someone saying that they are better than the Dream Team or that they lost another player to injury.

I spent a lot of time on Wall St., the best and brightest in Corporate America and the top lawyers are all asshole****s. A lot of people transition to mid-level positions to avoid that, but there are jerks everywhere you go, you can't avoid them.

I don't really think Kobe is any different than many other wildly successful individuals. He just has more of a microscope on him. I've been saying Jaime Dimon is a dick for years now, only now are people getting that but everyone is rallying around him now anyway. And still most people have no contact with high level corporate america, or politicians or other authorities, so they have no idea even when it's a story. They only hear about it in passing from buttoned down finance "journalists" who don't really give a shit**** either. But for sports we get full media coverage, with videos and lots of opinions in place, all getting thrown around and everyone feels like they know these players personally and can also judge them.

Certainly though some NBA players are closer to others. When Lebron and DWade were organizing charity games during the lockouts you could tell which of the top players were close because they'd show up for the charity events. Kobe wasn't at any of them, but virtually everyone else was. People were trashing LeBron James for the past 2 years, and now that he won he isn't the target anymore apparently. It's funny though when you read the articles now they've already written off Durant. I knew that would happen. He's the best scorer in the world but people write articles about Kyrie Irving instead.

I think it's safe to say that you would never, and I mean NEVER, be Kobe's teammate.  Therefore, you don't EVER have to worry about Kobe driving you crazy.  I love it when average scrubs try to tell us how they would be as professional athletes.

Actually, just sayin', Kyrie wasn't an Olympian. He was part of the practice squad. 'Nuf said. Still think he's a hell of a player, but he wasn't going to get an olympic medal either way.

Also have to remember Gus Frerotte who head butted the end zone padding after scoring a touchdown and gave himself a concussion!

It's great to hear about Keira Irving and his diva attitude and how it got him into trouble. Let this be a lesson to everyone....do not heap so much praise and adoration for a talented individual who has only been in the league for...duh one season. Irving got pawned by his own stupidity. Let's hope that this is the last freak accident that he gets, but knowing what a tool he is I bet his career will shadow that of the over-hyped Greg Oden and Brandon Roy.
