The new Era of Raiders Football!

October 1, 2012 6:41 pm

Its as simple as this.  There are those of us who believe in rookie GM's and coaches.  They feel they have the "it" factor and know how to bring the "pain".  They think Reggie had something to do with the Packers success.  They didn't believe that as an 8-8 team we were really that good and improving last year.  They have convinced themselves that Al Davis was an incompetent man and bringing in anyone would be better than him.  They also believe in the tooth fairy, Santa Clause, and Big Foot.

The rest of us called it right away.  Theis will be the darkest and worst stretch of Raiders football in its history maybe even NFL history.  We knew a scout turned GM would be in over his head.  We also knew the late great, HOF owner, Al Davis knew how to win and was close to putting it together again and Hue was on the right track.

We are 52 players away from their vision.  OK 50,  Briesel and the OL everyone runs around to hit the QB will be on the team.

But Über, it's not like any of those guys on the list were or are suppose to make or break the team.

Ok, well...dont take me out of context either. I was saying if RM was building a contender right away instead of rebuilding an entire franchise, why all the short term contracts for second chance dudes. You insinuated there were only 2 such contracts, so theres what I was saying right there. He needs 53 men and short contracts. Look for a couple dudes that really just needed a second look and be done with the rest.

They think Reggie had something to do with the Packers success.

Because the Director of Player Personell is totally hands-off? Even just "hanging out" in the office for that 20 years would offer Oakland something fresh AND proven. (god forbid) Does it hurt to think?

The rest of us called it right away.

Called it? Before anything is even in place its been called?  You sir, are both bag and nozzle.

Über not taken out of context. My point is that we returned 17 starters from an 8-8 team. We signed 1 supposed upgrade in Biesel. The other guys were wheeler, Burris, spencer and bartell. Wheeler was a starter and I don't know the specifics of his contract. Burris is a nice find in the draft. The 2 CB's are the only "bandaids" I see. And while I would rather have given huffs and branchs money to a better CB, those 2 corners probably were the best we could reasonably expect. Point is the core is still here. We signed old/broken guys. Not what rebuilding teams usually do.

Point taken. Still gotta have 53, and with no money to spend, one year deals for old/broken guys seems like the only option. Not like Nnamdi wanted to hang out for peanuts and Kamerion gots tuh git his too. Stanford was making way more than he should, Carson Palmer trade was already in place, Rolo is a slug, Branch cant cover, DHB cant catch consistently, Zach Miller loves the cable guy...NONE of these things had to do with just simply bringing in RM as GM. We couldnt afford Wimbley or routt regardless. Its a mess, so clean it up and start fresh.

Leppy you are on to something. That pattern of performence is not encouraging. However Bronco fans are very high on him. But being a good DC and good HC are two different things.

The new era of Raiders football means to me that we will not be trading our first round pick in next years draft to try to salvage this season. that's a new concept for Raiders fans and is going to take some getting used to. If McKenzie has any competitiveness in his DNA this has to be eating at him but as a business man he has to let this season go or it's just going to be more of the same that has kept us spinning our wheels for the last ten years. Reggie needs to turn a deaf ear to fans like me because knowing how I am before the season is over I'm going to be calling for more players to be brought in. But you'd better turn this thing around PDQ because I've seen enough medoricrity out of this team to last a lifetime.

Wasting your time Uber.  90% of the posters would rather be 8-8 again rather than go through the pains of building a franchise correctly.  Most don't understand how the salary cap works.  More players would have been cut prior to this season but the Raiders had no more cap space to take the hit on the signing bonus that would accelerate into the current year.  There will be another round of player cuts before next season to rid the team of the remaining bonehead contracts.  It will be 2014 before the McKenzie/Allen team really even begins to have a fair chance to put a quality team on the field.

Well said and it wont be long. 3 years fellas....just hang in there with me!! Im not saying Lombardi in 3, Im saying what resembles a real NFL caliber team in 3. Fielding a team that can actually compete. Stay out of the light, dudes! Stay with me!!

You think 3 years is too long? Go chat up a Lions fan. Maybe a Bucs fan. Buffalo Bills on line 1...

Thanks for backing me up Schmo. Id actually say 75% on the divide, but the tides are turning. Really only a few left that wont wake up and still insist its all a huge setback in the grand scheme of things.

It will be RMs THIRD damn draft before he gets to handle his own picks. By then the salary cap should have worked some lingering garbage out and he can then begin managing his own finances. Dont you guys see that? RM cant COMPLETELY manage his own system for a few years DUE TO THE MESS HE WAS LEFT WITH. But the good news is, it will happen and we will all have bragging rights.

Pride and poise sometimes comes at a price, and time is it.

The Bronco fans were also high on Tebow.

Unfortunately, Horse face Elway himself decided to let him go to a division rival... That's not a clue to anyone else?

3 years before you find out if Reggie is competent? 3 years before you find out if Dennis Allen could coach a bag of wet flour into a cake?

Virtually none of the players will be here by then.

Then it leaves me wondering. What is left of the team we grew to love besides a logo?

A coaching staff that can't figure out it's player's talents.

A GM who decided to turnover the entire cb roster.

An owner who just wants to get a new field.

This fall, prepare to be enthralled.

The God Loving Losers. Coming to a field near you this September.

If they don't know how to properly exploit  the talents of guys like Dmac,Winsniewski,Veldheer,DHB Palmer etc what does it matter the quality of the players they bring in? They will have to nail bullseye on the EXACT type of player that can  fit in their schemes across the board. Good luck.
