Man,

You guys are already talking about next year!  Good stuff.

I think the expectations of most WVU fans has lowered for next season.

This past year was a learning experience for the WVU players and their fans.  WVU's team was built for the BE... not the Big 12.  It will take some recruiting of players better suited for Big 12 play... and a few years for them to develop... before WVU is able to compete in its new conference at a high level.

I am glad WVU made the move... even though watching its defense get exploited week after week... after week... was brutal.

We tried telling you guys, it was going to be tougher than the Big East. Just imagine hw it woud be for Boise State. Harsin's offensive style didn't really work in the Big 12, he didn't really understand now much better the Big 12 was compared to what he had experienced previously.<br />

You will like this piece of draft news if you did not hear it, Joseph Randle declares for the draft. That is actually great news for every Big 12 team other than OSU.

good one GoldRush, and yes, Codaxx, please don't respond to the trolling. If you just ignore them they will go away. I know it can be hard, and I have been guilty of feeding the trolls way too much, so I am not criticizing, just asking.

Not to sound like an ass... but you are comparing apples to oranges.  I defended the BE from the time I joined the boards.  In year's past, the Big 12 had some good and some not so good years.

There were times when the BE was a softer journey.... years when the Big 12 would have been.

WVU would have struggled this year in the BE... it may not have lost 5 games... but, it was depleted of defensive talent... and, its O-line had glaring weaknesses.

Look what SU's group did in the Pinstripe.

The BE is not that bad...

.... or maybe I should have said... it wasn't that bad...

I will admit, as one who has watched plenty of BE football - albeit little B12 - and plenty of PAC football...the BE is highly underrated as a conference.  Just as the media loves the SEC in football and BE in basketball, it hates the BE in football and PAC (deservedly so lately) in basketball.

BE football is very good balanced football, as evident by Louisville destroying Florida.  I am 100% positive that there's not a single Big 12 team that would have done much better than WVU in the BE from 2005 to 2011.  Oklahoma probably would have averaged 1 more win a season during that time frame, but no others would have done better.

As the Big 12 should be very aware of - due to last year and this year - name brand makes a huge difference in how a conference is perceived.  If it had been Oklahoma or Texas in the same position as KSU or OSU the last 2 years, do you honestly think that they would have been left out of the title game? I can almost guarantee it wouldn't have happened last year and this year, if OU had finished with just the KSU loss, I'm positive they would have made the title game barring 2 undefeated teams from AQ conferences.

So Big 12 fans, don't be idiots and think that WVU's non-existent defense this year, and thus 5 losses, is indicative of the Big 12 being a far superior conference to what the Big East was...going forward, it will absolutely be better.  Hey, if we're all lucky, next year's title game will be Stanford v. Texas.

Report out that Pascal is returning to TCU. That makes TCU the favorite in the Big 12

agree 100%, the combo of a bad hire after RichRod and the coach in waiting fiasco has hurt WVU in recruiting, and in turn our depth. IMHO with a stable situation at the HC situation either RichRod staying put or the correct hire when he left with minimal asst. moves WVU and TCU (minus having to cut the drug guys loose) would have been very similar in depth if not maybe a little deeper on our end. I was very impressed with Patterson and the TCU season this year with their personell loses, I dont think there is any question that as long as he is there TCU will be a very good program from here on out.

they say perception makes reality. IMO WV would have only had one competitor in the BE this year and that would be Louisville. I think they would have won more games in the BE.

After going to the Pinstripe Bowl and watching SU curb stomp my Mounties... I have to disagree.

WVU won its last three BE contests by a combined 7 points... relying on a blocked FG against Cincy... a come-from-behind 1 pt win over Pitt... and a late INT to seal a 3 pt win over USF.

WVU was only 2 plays away from going 6-3 in the Big 12 this year... and 9-3 overall... which would have equaled last year's record.

I don't want to sound like I am making excuses, but I put no weight on that game.

I even think WVU might have beaten the Cards. HAD they still been in the BE.

Well, truth be told, I look down upon all programs without 700 wins to their name

Not all schools started playing football at the same time...not every university was given land grants by the federal government. Texas Tech fielded their first football team in 1925.

On the old B12 thread I posted the average age of the players for most teams...I believe TTU had the second youngest (slightly older than TCU). I don't know what all the hooplah is about TCU and Baylor recently, neither team out-recruits Tech and neither team has a winning record against Tech...but for some odd reason they still recieve more praise from posters here than they deserve. For instance, Baylor has never beaten Tech in B12 play until Tuberville took over and allowed the Bears to win the last two meetings. Also, under Tuberville, Tech's consecutive winning season record (longest in B12) was ended. TTU over the last three seasons went 21-17, and this was considered terrible. Meanwhile, Baylor goes 25-14 in the same 3 year span is considered to be doing excellent? Please..........
