Lakers suck simple as that, they should and will make the playoffs (if they don't it will be the most embarassing team in basketball history and should taint everyone's legacy that was involved with the organization).

The Lakers were embarassing the Pistons, the Pistons were missing lay ups, making careless plays, making Pau Gasol look like the games best big man (that would be Tim Duncan). Yet the Pistons inserted Will Bynum and Andre Drummond and they made a great comeback. People were talking about the Lakers being one of the best teams ever, I myself thought they should be the best team in the NBA this regular season. They fired Mike Brown, hired Mike D'antoni and he's been worse than Brown and hasn't done really anything but blame the players. He's a good coach, probably is on the players, moreso on upper management.

Bottom line is they are all overrated, Kobe Bryant is one of the best ever but he's not in the class of Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Bill Russell, Dwight Howard has always been overrated in pretty much every facet of the game. That's why even at the age of 36 Tim Duncan still brings more to the table in value than Dwight Howard (whom is suppose to be the best big man in the game).

Lastly like I said Ron Artest is a punk and should be removed from the league. He needs professional help (more than he's already got). He cannot be allowed to do that and the refs had the nerve to penalize the Pistons. Serious issues, Pistons future is far brighter than the Lakers who's future seems more and more gloom regardless of their W/L record in the present or in the near future.

Look, Howard got the Magic to the finals.  The analysts say he has a high aptitude for playing on the inside when he's 100% and makes a huge difference in shot blocking.  It's obvious other teams were salivating at the possibility of him being on the trade market today when Kupchak said he's not on the table.  A healthy Howard is the Lakers only chance and it looks like management realizes that.  Kupchak made it known today that Kobe and the fans don't call all the shots.  Maybe some Hollywood directors will put him in a movie to try to get him to stay a couple years.

MS I don't believe you were around much when I posted the bet so I wasn't talking to you...as to my boys...without question there has been quite a bit of underachieving going on...I hate it but it got to the point people were talking they wouldn't make the playoffs which is why I made the bet...the game vs the Pistons is a win...the Pistons played horrible but Howard would have shut down Bynum...this is the reason the Lakers blasted them earlier in the year...it's also the reason people need to stop with all the Trade Howard talk...as is without Howard the Lakers are a good team and can beat most teams, but have NO chance at the elite teams without him...his injury plagued season is only a quarter of the distinction that this Lakers team has had to deal with...without question this team needed to play together under the same system since training camp...it took this long for them to get their egos out the way, which if you look at it in those terms they would have been doing this in early to mid December...but here we are...saying one of the greatest ever over rated because he is not a great leader is a bit much...no question he gets in his own way at times, but you can not name 1 player in history who gave more of themselves to this game...maybe worked as hard but never harder...from his footwork to his jump shot to his defense, especially prime Kobe he is 1 of the greatest of all time you can not deny that...Jordan Magic Bird Russell even Duncan no, but he is top amongst the next level greats...

u can say the same about iverson or mcgrady son, except that these players weren't lucky enough to get shaq, or prime gasol and bynum. and don't put defense in there, since when did koberina shut down a top level guard? yet Paul Pierce, an older player, made koberina look silly in that celtic championship

Hockey878 posted some article that showed during the Lakers bad seasons where they gave up a lot of points, the Lakers actually gave up more points while Kobe was on the floor, yet still won a 1st team all-defense award.  It was an interesting read.

wak, son, u have to use ur noggin if you have one when it comes to these awards. lebron scores, assists and rebounds at a clip that no other player can, hence his MVPs are easily understandable. in fact he should have had the award every year if not for the human element of BOREDOM with having the same player win it everytime amongst coaches. now for defensive attributes, well, these are indeed more SUBJECTIVE. now show me where kobina led his team in defensive rebounds. did he ever shut guards down or have a high rate of steals? any memorable blocks? the only memorable defense he had was successfully shutting up that colorado woman with money.

it is not hard to disagree with realdeal's or hockey's article because the same kobina effect is repeating itself. again though fakers won by a hair at detroit, noticeably the laker leads increase when kobina is on the bench.

Why don't you 2 ask Rondo how good Kobe is defensively...? Ask Reggie Miller how good Kobe is defensively...? Ask the coaches in the NBA who voted for him 9x all defensive 1st team and 3x all defensive 2nd team...are you 2 saying Kobe is not nor has ever been an elite defensive player...?

Well according to things that I have read, Kobe was an elite defender for about 5 years, but then his defensive skills sort of fell off the table.  Teams were scoring at a higher rate while he was on the floor, and it was suggested that Kobe's name only went a long way to achieving the All-defense awards, and not so much his actual defensive skills. 


So yes, I think he WAS an elite defender at one point.  But, that was long ago now.
