If Percy is traded and to whom for what??

Simmion.....Sure the Vikes can live w/o Percy but with him they are a much more dangerous team with more options. If he can stay healthy and stays with the Vikes he is invaluable IMO because of the various ways he can contribute and score. Besides AD, the Vikes have no home run hitters on offense and we need EVERY home run hitter we can get!!

I can agree that his is dangerous at any position.  He does have to stay healthy.  He was getting the ball A LOT last year!  You could tell he was getting banged up.  It will be interesting to see how it unfolds.  How quick do you think he'd bad mouth the Vikes if he is traded.  I remember Culpepper was silent for about 3 minutes before he was bad mouthing the Vikes and praising his new team.  It was like he was new person.  I would hope he would take the high road and just say he wants to move on.

Harvin is a GREAT player concerned about his future. With all the stuff going on about head injuries can you blame him?

I don't think anyone would disagree that he deserves a new contract.  But if his issues are with the coaches, other players and generally just doesn't want to be a Viking, then its not a bad idea to part ways, because he would continue to be that annoying teammate.  If it is just about his contract, then yes, let's pay him to stay.

It will be interesting to see how this unfolds......Harvin is obviously my favourite viking but even for myself he  has to decide if he truely wants to be one.  Like what MV711 said ...we are alot better team with him than without. You just don'r replace an elite, MVP type player that can do it from anywhere on the field.....the slot, out wide, in the back field, on returns. The guy IMO is the most explossive player in the NFL. He's also so clutch making play after play and rarely does he ever drap a ball... in fact he has been one of the best at it for awhile. You don't replace that. Forgetting about Harvin and the coaches the bigger problem is really Ponder and his lack of ability to execute the offence to the level it needs to be. I mentioned in another post it's no different in Jacksonville where Gabbert can't get Blackmon the ball...KC can't get thier weapons the ball...same for the Cards. The team wants Harvin to have the ball and if we had a legit QB IMO there are no issues and we are not discussing this. Frazier and Spielman may be in a tough place with this situation but in reality thier choice at QB has alot to do with it.

Another point....IF Percy is traded for draft picks, the problem is we don't if the picks will pan out...With Percy we know what we have and what we have is a dynamic and home run hitter type of player.

Give the man his money and he will probably be happy.

I don't think it is fair to compare Harvin to Moss, Moss proved his worth and had monster numbers, Harvin has yet to do that. Harvin is a great player who is exciting to watch but at some point you have to wonder if he's worth putting up with. He has been nothing but a punk his entire sports life, had troubles in high school, college and pros, I just dont think investing big money in someone like that is a wise decision. Would I like to see him quit being a POS and just produce on the field and keep his mouth shut? Of course, but it's not going to happen, let's get a 2nd round pick for him and move on.

Thing is Harvin has won his entire career and won at the highest level. He played threw pain and led his team to college championships. When it comes to performance on the field he's been a star. I agree you can't compare him to Moss in alot of ways. Moss was probably the most gifted and talented WR ever so in reality no one really compares to Moss. Saying that, talent wise, no one really compares to Harvin either. Where do you get a player that can play all over the field and at at a high level ????   You don't. He's a stronger and quicker version than Welker with better hands. Add to that though is he's been one of the best if not the best returner in football and has been explossive in the back field too. I can not think of any player in the 40 + years I've been watching football that can do as much as Harvin can at such a high level. Attitude issues asside the one thing Harvin has never done is quit on his team. Moss has.

I'm not sure you can prove Harvin hasn't quit on his team being it's being reported now that his run in with Frazier led to his being placed on IR not the injury, being that kind of person is the same as quiting on your team because he places himself and his own needs above that of the teams. He can't continue to return kicks because he will get hurt at least I wouldn't continue to let him. I agree he is a very good player, I just dont think you can put attitude issues aside. Like I said i'd love if he quit being a cancer and just played football but that seems unlikely, the Vikes will continue to exist without him, if we can get a 2nd round pick I say it's time to move on.

The fact remains that Percy is underpaid for his production and we are IMO a much better team w/him than w/o him.

I don't agree with this at all.  What's his season high in yards?  Under a 1000.  What's his career high in catches?  under 50?  What's his season high TD's?  Don't think he has double digits.

If he stays healthy and gets his head on straight I'm sure he could be 70, 1000, 10+ kind of guy but until we see it we are just assuming all of this on talent.  And talent isn't the question, its his attitude and willingness to be a team player.  He is playing on his rookie contract still and IMO opinion he is making what he should make.  Peterson got a raise before his rookie year was up but he has been an outstanding player on and off the field.

With a motivated Harvin on the field, the Vikes are a better team yes.  But when things aren't going HIS way he is bad for the team IMO.

Really have to disagree with that one....considering how many times he's played when banged up. I don't think he's ever put himself above the team.

Really Nos ???  Are you really trying to say his college teams would have won without him ???

   Percy Harvin.... 280 receptions....3302 yards...20 tds
   Wes Welker.... 449 receptions....5119 yards...26 tds

Yeah I can clearly see harvin is WAY better then welker. these are stats from 2009-present percys` whole career

That is a terrible comparison. The Pats have a pass first offense with Brady at the helm. I bet if Welker played in Minny he would have not generated the same stats. There is NO doubt in my mind that Harvin is better than Welker. He is faster and he will run you over. Welker catches a ball over the middle and hits the turf when contact is coming.

That's fine, he wants to last during the season but don't try convincing me that Wes matches up with Percy. If Harvin had Brady as a QB his numbers would be incredible.

Not sure what the point is here......The Pats have Brady and there main focus has been Welker where the Vikings has been AD.

Harvin is quicker and stronger than Welker with better hands.....if the Vikings had a QB like Brady and designed thier offence like the Pats I'm sure Harvin would have had huge numbers although his current ones are pretty good. This season while he was healthy he led the league in receptions. Receptions totals are nice but you hyave to have the ball thrown to you to get them lol....The drop ratio is the biggest factor IMO and Harvin beats Welker along with most top end WR's easily in  that area. Welker does not have value as a returner or RB where Harvin does.

point being if harvin was so good hed have better stats . you say he`s better he clearly isnt. It doesnt matter whos the qb, if he is so good he`d make the qb better but he doesnt. There must be a REASON why harvin is held out of the red zone hmmmmmm....... wonder what it is, if he was so good he would be in there I would think.  yet he isnt makes a guy go hmmmmmm.

Welker was targeted 174 times in 2012. He had 118 receptions. That is a 68% reception rate. Harvin was targeted 85 times for 62 receptions. That is a reception rate of 73% with Ponder throwing the ball. In addition, Harvin does not have Hernandez & Gronk to protect him.

Welker had twice as many TD's in twice the number of targets. We will see how good Welker is when he moves on like Randy Moss did.
