Only history will tell how this plays out.

Then why spend the present tearing down your favorite team?  Oh that is right you ride the moral high horse for the whole university and fan base.

Pastilong did a good job and he is one of the reasons WVU football and other sports are in this position now.  Alot of good things happened under his watch, and like most humans some things he didn't focus on as much.  I know a lot of people bashed him for the baseball situation, baseball in the BE was nothing so why invest in it, but I believe much like Luck is doing now if Pastilong was here with the move to the big 12 he would have been forced to make changes.  Luck is no god and Pastilong was no bum...IMO

I do NOT tear down the team, I complain about the administrators, and the coaches for the state of this team,  when I watch a defense get worse as the season goes on, it is on PRESENT coaching.  When the offense lays down for two games it is on the coaches. I am completely supportive of the kids!!

DC, I DO feel that there are things more important than the amount of money or wins a school can rake in.   I look around at college sports today, and they have become a joke, look at the things coaches, boosters, kids, etc do to gain an unfair advantage.  A lot of the major schools with winning as their top priority are in trouble for cheating to various degrees.  I love college ball partly BECAUSE of the tradition that many are now saying they don't care about,  and part of that tradition is in who you play.  The Mountaineer, the band, singing after games are all great, but I really have no interest in Kansas in football,  TT, Baylor, IAST at all,  yeah it's great to have Oklahoma or Texas come now and then, but no greater than LSU, Auburn, ND, OSU coming in OOC.

Yes, a move from the BE, WHICH WAS A FINE HOME for 19 years, was coming,   We went to four major bowls as members of the BE,  One of our finest moments on the hardwood was winning the BE tourney a few years ago, Almost every sport WVU has became stronger and more competative. I curse Donna Shalala and Swofford all the time for their greed ripping the BE apart.  I curse Foge Fazio for vetoing Paterno's ideas on an Eastern all sports league.

You complain about EVERYTHING...  from ticket prices (which you don't buy), to parking prices (which you don't pay), to the cost of a stadium hot dog (which you don't buy)!  That wasn't Luck's doing!  Prices were already there for the most part.  Fans want stadium upgrades, big name coaches...   but they don't want to support the school financially to help pay for those things.  Go to any major Univeristy and see what the prices are.  Go to Kings Island, Busch Gardens, or DisneyWorld and see what you pay for parking and hot dogs.  This is 2013.  Gas is $3.50 gallon and a loaf of bread is $2.50.  It is what it is!  If you are a fan, QUIT COMPLAINING about trivial stuff and blaming Luck for it.  If you want to complain about the coaching, do so without the sarcasm and bashing in your attempt to seek some sort of redemption for your love child "Stew".

Yes, college sports...  not JUST WVU!  As a matter of fact, I think it's a credit to the program that we haven't seen WVU have the type of problems found at some of the more "respected" schools like USC, Auburn, Ohio St., Penn St., UNC, and now Oregon.  Miami didn't surprise anyone when they were caught...  but now you're seeing it from the most tradtional schools that you wouldn't think would have to cheat to gain unfair advantages in recruiting.

A move from the BE, WHICH WAS A FINE HOME for 19 years, was coming,   We went to four major bowls as members of the BE,  One of our finest moments on the hardwood was winning the BE tourney a few years ago, Almost every sport WVU has became stronger and more competative. I'm not sure I've seen anyone argue that the Big East wasn't a fine home for many years.  But a move became necessary to GUARANTEE a secure position in the re-alignment of college sports.  I doubt that many ever considered the Big 12 as their first choice...  given a choice.  But it was the only move we had at the time and one that had to be made to assure ourselves a spot at the table.  Again, there's nothing that says WVU is LOCKED into the Big 12.  If YOU are correct in believing the ACC will survive over the Big 12...  WVU should be positioned to get into the SEC or ACC.  If the ACC folds and the SEC comes calling, the buyout would be the least of our worries.  And at that point, you may find an Eastern Division of the Big 12 with some old WVU rivals where you would rather stay...

And the people who do that are just as ignorant as you when it comes to your bashing of everyone now. Pastilong did a good job and he is one of the reasons WVU football and other sports are in this position now.  Alot of good things happened under his watch, and like most humans some things he didn't focus on as much.
Count me in on the ignorant side.  Pastilong didn't have a vision for the sports programs.  He only reacted to situations and was slow at that.  But these views were already expressed in a previous posts dealings with views on Pastilong's tenure at the AD helm for 20 years and "all the good" he did.  Before you say the stadium being built under his tenure, it was something that was long over due.  Whatever else he did that was so good, I just don't see it for a 20 year vet.  We can always revive that thread.

And again.  But some people have narrow vision.  Wish in one hand and shyte in the other...... As the Rolling Stones say - You don't always get what you want, put if you try real hard, you get what you need.

Way to leave this out of your praise for DC post..

cherry pick much...

Nothing but a troll but you already know this....

Answer a few questions...

When was the last time you supported the program by buying a ticket?.. buying liscensed merchandise?... go to an away game?... donated to the MAC?

Why are you even on here posting... didnt you say in the middle of the football season that you didnt care about the team and program anymore?

Which conference do you actually want us in... The Big East? where you wanted us to stay for the moral high ground like Pitt and Syracuse did.. oh thats right when I told you that Pitt would follow WVU out the door after we set the precedent you didnt believe me... hmmm how did that play out...?

ACC?  because you have praised that conference to the high heavens as where we belong.. but then in your posts state you hope it gets burned to the ground by a raid as they did to the BE

SEC?  where you think an offer would have came from if we stayed in the BE?

Way to cover your bases by putting us in every league.. the only ones you dont have us in is the PAC and the BIG

Is anyone talking about how sad it is for the fans and how hard it is on the players to have to travel so far for games?  College sports should be all about local rivalries and the fans should be able to travel to the away games with ease.  WVU belongs in a confrence close to home.  Anything else is a slap in the face to the student athletes and the fans.

It used to be this way.  WVU and its fans used to enjoy the Southern Conference in the 50's and 60's.  The team and its fans could hop in their cars and buses and enjoy a 10 hr plus ride over curved mountainous roads getting car sick along the way to destinations like Richmond, Williamsburg and Lexington, VA.

Those were the good ole days.

Modern travel has made the world smaller. Today the trip to Texas is no more taxing than the bus trip to Richmond was in the 1970s. Unfortunately the fans in front of the tv are more important than the fans in the stands. MIT is a shame that the old big east broke up but you need to go with the times.
