Only history will tell how this plays out.
Then why spend the present tearing down your favorite team? Oh that is right you ride the moral high horse for the whole university and fan base.
Pastilong did a good job and he is one of the reasons WVU football and other sports are in this position now. Alot of good things happened under his watch, and like most humans some things he didn't focus on as much. I know a lot of people bashed him for the baseball situation, baseball in the BE was nothing so why invest in it, but I believe much like Luck is doing now if Pastilong was here with the move to the big 12 he would have been forced to make changes. Luck is no god and Pastilong was no bum...IMO
Very good post DC,
Then why spend the present tearing down your favorite team? Oh that is right you ride the moral high horse for the whole university and fan base.
I DO feel that there are things more important than the amount of money or wins a school can rake in.
I look around at college sports today, and they have become a joke, look at the things coaches, boosters, kids, etc do to gain an unfair advantage. A lot of the major schools with winning as their top priority are in trouble for cheating to various degrees
A move from the BE, WHICH WAS A FINE HOME for 19 years, was coming, We went to four major bowls as members of the BE, One of our finest moments on the hardwood was winning the BE tourney a few years ago, Almost every sport WVU has became stronger and more competative. I curse Donna Shalala and Swofford all the time for their greed ripping the BE apart.
And the people who do that are just as ignorant as you when it comes to your bashing of everyone now. Pastilong did a good job and he is one of the reasons WVU football and other sports are in this position now. Alot of good things happened under his watch, and like most humans some things he didn't focus on as much.Count me in on the ignorant side. Pastilong didn't have a vision for the sports programs. He only reacted to situations and was slow at that. But these views were already expressed in a previous posts dealings with views on Pastilong's tenure at the AD helm for 20 years and "all the good" he did. Before you say the stadium being built under his tenure, it was something that was long over due. Whatever else he did that was so good, I just don't see it for a 20 year vet. We can always revive that thread.
And the people who do that are just as ignorant as you when it comes to your bashing of everyone nowWay to leave this out of your praise for DC post..
You complain about EVERYTHING... from ticket prices (which you don't buy), to parking prices (which you don't pay), to the cost of a stadium hot dog (which you don't buy)! That wasn't Luck's doing! Prices were already there for the most part. Fans want stadium upgrades, big name coaches... but they don't want to support the school financially to help pay for those things. Go to any major Univeristy and see what the prices are. Go to Kings Island, Busch Gardens, or DisneyWorld and see what you pay for parking and hot dogs. This is 2013. Gas is $3.50 gallon and a loaf of bread is $2.50. It is what it is! If you are a fan, QUIT COMPLAINING about trivial stuff and blaming Luck for it. If you want to complain about the coaching, do so without the sarcasm and bashing in your attempt to seek some sort of redemption for your love child "Stew".AMEN
College sports should be all about local rivalries and the fans should be able to travel to the away games with ease.It used to be this way. WVU and its fans used to enjoy the Southern Conference in the 50's and 60's. The team and its fans could hop in their cars and buses and enjoy a 10 hr plus ride over curved mountainous roads getting car sick along the way to destinations like Richmond, Williamsburg and Lexington, VA.
