Where are all the QUALIFIED black HCs?

January 18, 2013 9:35 pm

LOL, look at this fella. He thinks NFL owners who spend billions of dollars on their NFL team only hire white coaches because they're white, but not because they're the best coach available for hire. Do you see what an idiot you look like right now? Quit crying and pulling the racism card, because you look pathetic.

I like how he doesn't see how this bullshit**** where you play the race card when it's not relevant hurts himself. It's like the boy who cried wolf, eventually people stop listening.

Last time I checked, employers didn't discriminate based on race.

LOL, that's hilarious.  Employers don't do it as much as they used to but it still happens.  And most of that is because it's now against the law.  If all things are fairly equal a hiring manager is going to hire the person they think will fit int he best and that person is usually the person of the same race as them regardless of what that race might be.

Bathrooms were for people of every race.

Water fountains can be used by both black and white people.

Public transport, for example, seats on a city bus aren't assigned based on race.

Are you serious with this?

Black people have their own TV channel.

And white people have hundreds of them

Black and white people have an equal opportunity to receive an equal education from college and public schools, and aren't seperated based on race anymore.

Schools in black areas don't get the same funding as schools in white areas and that true almost everywhere in this country.  So while a college may accept a person whether they are black or white the schools systems are not putting as many college eligible students out.

It's more than fair... But African American's fail to realize it.

No it's more fair than it used but that doesn't mean equal.

How is it speculation? Which black candidates have a resume that should have put them in the discussion? That's all that matters. The resume.

jdm, like I said, I don't know what black guys who haven't been head coaches have as far as resume.  It's not my job to know and as I've said I won't speculate.  I can say though that Lovie Smith has a great resume.  I also forgot that 4 black head coaches have actually been to a Superbowl.  Jim Caldwell took Indy to one, lost Peyton Manning for a year and got fired for the results.  He has a better resume than these guys.

That's funny. I've seen minorities at every place I've worked. It doesn't matter if it's "against the law to not hire minorities," these days, that just proves that this country is moving more towards rights for minorities.

No, they do. But it also depends on how much the taxpayers pay towards the school budget in that particular area. If people aren't going to pay the school taxes, the school won't have any money; thus, the school won't have as much monehy to spend.

I went to a high school where the black population was 20% and everyone seemed just fine.

Listen, I wouldn't have had a problem with the Eagles hiring Lovie Smith. But I would rather have the Eagles start with a fresh, young coach that's always been great at what he's done, and I like how he runs his offenses. I think Chip Kelly was a better option than somebody who just got fired from their job. I think Chip Kelly gets the most out of his players, wereas Lovie Smith doesn't.

As i said I wouldn't hire Lovie myself but to say that Chip Kelly has a better resume for an NFL head coaching job is just non-sense.  I have no problem with the Eagles hirign anyone they want to hire but Chip doesn't have a better resume than Smith or Caldwell.

Apparently Mike Freeman and the majority of the African American population thinks the world owes them something.

No, pretty much everyone in this country thinks they are entitle one way or another.  It's not just black people.  It just aggrivates you and you notice it more when it's black people.  Even more so, I've never had anything handed to me and don't expect it to be.

It's amazing how Asians, Latinos, and every other race act just fine, but African American's seem to make a big deal about everything, and really, it's gets annoying and it'll get under people's skin.

No other minority in this country has been treated the way black people have.  It's not even the same discussion.  My wife is white and since we've been together her eyes are open to a lot of things that she would have never seen had she not married a black man.  A lot of white people simply have no idea.

How do you know lovie smith is even looking for a job? Many coaches will take a year or two off between jobs. But his resume is OK, not spectacular. I wouldn't have fired him personally, but I'd not like he has some sparkling resume to separate him from a hot new candidate instead. He had a winning record, but only made the playoffs three times in 8 years.

You can't just say race played a role because the's no proof it didn't. People like you are what is wrong with this country.

No, people who want to poopoo racism and think it's all hunky dory is a big part of what's wrong with this country.  Not quite as bad as the racists but bad enough.  And again, I didn't say racism played a part in it, I said it's possible and you can't just dismiss it because you have no idea.

I thought you were done responding to me.    anyway, an owner may think the white guy is the best candidate without even really considering that the black guy could be better.

I've never said racism doesn't exist. I said there's not the tiniest hint it happened here, and when people make up a racial issue that doesn't exist, they remove attention from places where it actually is.

No, you see, the current African American population was never part of the slavery era. They haven't gone through anything different than any other minority has. You just have your foot in your mouth because you're black and you think your race is entitled to special treatment. Give it a rest dude, you're crying about how your race doesn't receive equal treatment, which isn't true. Just give up and move on.

Moving towards is the perfect wording.  Moving towards but not there yet.

Yes, thank you for letting us use your water fountain!!!

OK, so black people don't make as much money and the schools don't get as much from taxes because of it.   Does that make what I said any less true?

Because he said he was and if he didn't get a head job he would take a year off.  He doesn't want to go back to coordinator.

But his resume is OK, not spectacular.

He's a proven head coach with a trip to the Superbowl and one or 2 more to the conference championship.  He has a winning record with a lot of retreads can't say.  I would have fired him too.  I would have fired him years ago.  that's beside the point though.

If you want to say black people don't get as fair a shot at education, you might have a valid point. But if you spend half the time arguing the NFL is racist because they didn't happen to find a black coach to fill a spot, people will lump everything you said together and treat it all as bullshit****, even if only the NFL part is. I don't understand why you don't understand that it is counterproductive.

Freeman simply reintroduced an issue that is still an issue.  8 head coaches, none of them black.  I think 14 GMs, none of them black.  Maybe there really were no black people qualified for these 22 high ranking NFL positions but maybe there's more to it than you guys think.  It's worth discussing.  And I don't think the Rooney rule even applies to GMs so of those 14 jobs they may not have even looked a a black person.  The whole point here is that NONE of us know what played into the hiring of these guys but you try to act liek you do.  You REALLY have no idea.

His isn't better than Andy Reid's, and 3 playoff appearances in 8 years isn't enough to put him over the top of the new hot guy. It will get him another job, but not at some huge priority.

Freeman's whole job is to get people to read his bullshit**** by making race an issue whenever he can. He's an awful writer, and even worse than Pete prisco. Also the Rooney rule is awful. It won't get a single extra black coach fired and just wastes everyone's time.

You have uneducated black slave who is told they are a subspecies of human if they are acknowledge as human at all.  they pass this mentality down to their kids who pass it down to theirs and so on and so on. No, no one is still alive who was actually a slave but the slave mentality was passed through generations.  I wouldnt expect you to understand that but it's true.  And no matter whether we were slaves or not our parents and grand parents were alive when they couldn't drink from the same faucets or use the same bathrooms.  they were alive when the beatings and lynchings took place.  You think the feelings those kind of things made just go away after a generation?

Bottom line....the Rooney Rule was put in for a reason.  There could very well have been a Mike Tomlin passed on this year.  We don't know yet, time will tell.  Not all of these hires will work out, and for the ones that don't, they could very well have passed on a black coach that would have done a better job.  We won't know that until that black coach gets a chance somewhere down the line here and shows to be successful.  This same front office business is how Fisher has sabotaged my man VY.  They need more black coaches to work with the new dynamic quarterback coming to the league.  I know you don't like it.
