Hoping to get some advise on a deal I had proposed to me. Its a 7 man keeper league and my team is as follows: F: Crosby, Tavares, Giroux, Kopitar, Lucic, Sharp, Ryan, Conacher D: Byfuglien, Pietrangelo, Salo, Yandle, Faulk (car), Burns G: Rinne, Halak, Dubnyk
Ive been offerred the following deal: Crosby and Yandle for Skinner, Couture, and Shea Weber
Any advice, my concern is that im giving up a high point player in Crosby and Yandle who are producing while taking on a d man that isnt right now (albeit elite) I know its a decent offer but not sure if I should take it or not?
I like Jeff Skinner, he's an exciting young player, he's highly skilled but his small frame worries me. Though he might transform into a perennial 30 goal man, I just see too much risk for injury from him.
Logan Couture already is a perennial 30 goal man, and he's playing on a strong team, but even combined with Skinner they would only slightly out produce Crosby over a full season.
Defense to defense, give me Shea Weber ever time. He's a better player, though Keith Yandle is no slouch.
All told the upgrade from Yandle to Weber is not nearly enough to cover the down grade of Crosby + the player you're dropping to get the third player on to your roster.
great thanks for the help, it was kinda what I was thinking anyway, just needed the push to say no on it. the even bigger issue is this guy happens to have stamkos and the two sedins and i wouldnt want to give him any more talent. thought id stay put too.
I think you should do the trade just to give the rest of the league a chance! I understand its only a 7 team league but really, this team is a couple players short of a hand picked team. With the skill players you have Shea Weber is not gonna even make a dent and getting rid of Crosby for two fowards where only Couture would have a chance of making your lineup does you no good. Putting two players together to try and get one doesnt work, it may look good sometimes with the thought that your getting two 60-70 point players for just one guy (Crosby) who is over a point per game but you have to remember if Crosby scores 85 in a full season, which is being conservative, by himself you could pick up a waiver wire guy who scores 40 and have it be the same result. Two for ones dont work, an owner may try and convince a lesser owner that "your getting two top six fowards and Im only getting one" But the one that he is getting is more talented and consistent than either of those players and instead of Skinner and Couture taking up two spots in your lineup Crosby only takes up one and you can pair him with Ray Charles and get the same results, so imagine plugging in Kopitar Tavares Ryan or any of those one guys that will probably have to be on your bench because there is not enough room in your starting lineup for them all. Good Luck and keep Crosby or you will regret it
I would take it. Skinner and Couture are really good and are the future for their two teams. Crosby is a huge risk, one hit may put him out for a year+ so there is a lot of risk there. By taking that deal you get two really solid players and an upgrade with Weber at the point. Crosby may be a dynamic player but you get two awesome forwards you can play matchups with.
