Can't believe Bruin fans aren't screaming

February 4, 2013 10:13 am

Sending out your enforcers at this stage of the game and under these circumstances is a clear act of provocation.
Completely disagree. Whenever a game is out of hand the 4th/3rd liners go out to finish it up. In almost every single situation in every league. Happens so that these guys get to actually touch the ice & to protect your better players from possible injury.  Not to mention the Bruins had already lost 3 Fs in that single game.

The problem with Lindy Ruff is that he does not appear all that capable of premeditation.
can't really argue against that.

My biggest issue is that it was more or less known that the Bruins would be putting their scrubs out there. Lindy Ruff has been on both sides of this situation a thousand times in his life. Not unchartered waters being up or down 3 goals w/ 20 seconds left. Why was Vanek out their at all?

But I will point out to call someone an idiot while they voice their opinion about a preceived classless act, is on the verge of classless too

but the Forth, you have been classless for so long you forgot what class is. (although that AV is changing my tune on that issue.)  Surprised

Hey my friend, just had to pull your chain.  Good to see you around the chats. It's hockey season again, and all is well on the homefronts from around the league.

It's good to see the strike didn't kill the fans intensity.

Bill he may have put himself in that situtation, but I don't think the Bruins would have done anything.  Too many suspensions being handed out. and they were already down 3 with another game coming with only 1 day off between games, I believe.  So little time to recoup.

Let's just end by saying.  I don't like Ruff, haven't since his whinning in 2006 playoffs and I believe he knew what he was doing.  But water under the bridge.

I think the NHLPA would call you classless for calling the lockout a strike.

I wouldn't care what Fehr calls it,  He caused it by not negotiating last season when asked to prepare a proposal.  But then a lot of the blind don't understand that.

I purposefully delayed responding to this as I expected, correctly as it turns out, that others would notice the irony of this comment.

Originally I debated using the word "idiot"; I certainly do not use the word loosely.  It was really more of a rhetorical ploy; I made explicit that which you had made implicit in your message screeds, (that's where the pathetic whimpering factors in).  An objective reader is provided a bit of a jolt to look back on exactly what is being discussed, and how it has been expressed.  Objectively speaking, you did call Buffalo fans idiots.

I do not really care as it all fun and games in message board hockey discussions.  You seem incapable of making insightful comments, and after a while, well, I felt like calling you out on that.

Bill, one of these days you will learn what percieved is all about.  Not once did I state what you said was classless.  I just stated others may look at it that way.  But if it hurt your little feelings.  Then sorry 'bout that.  I bring more insightful information on these boards than you ever thought of.  NOTICE I SAID BOARDS, MEANING ALL THE MESSAGE BOARDS, Wink

This is the type of comment that makes me appreciate the CBSSports message boards.  Even when I disagree with an argument, I have the opportunity to learn.  (I know about the unwritten rule here - but I now have another reason to pile opprobrium on our coach.)

If I was too cavalier in accepting Ruff's action, it must be placed in the context of this discussion.  No one, me included, is defending Ruff's coaching decisions.  However, when he has made a mistake, he would be derelict to not respond to the situation.  Therefore, sending out the first line was stupid, but taking action to protect his team was necessary.

BTW, despite your hockey-team-from-Boston affections, you're probably the kind of guy that I would love to share a pint o' with given the chance.  Do you ever get over to Ireland?

Note, I did not call you out for being classless - that's too easy in the context of the exchanges on this thread.  I called you out for implicitly calling Sabres fans idiots.

Here's one for you to look up: from now on, I will defer to you as "the soi dissant arbiter of what is classy and intelligent".

Come on now. You can't talk about Mickey that way. He won a championship is high school so he knows what it takes to win a championship. And since I have won a few championships in fantasy football/hockey I feel like I should be given the chance to be the GM of the NHL/NFL franchise because I know what it takes to win it all. I have coached a squirt and peewee level youth teams to championships (and a high school freshman team that lost in the championship) so maybe I should be an NHL coach since I know what it takes to put a winning product on the ice. Since I am the common denominator I'm sure it was my skills and had nothing to do with the talent on the teams I coached or luck of the teams I drafted in fantasy.

Nope forth, won the championship in Baseball.  But all that matters is knowing what it takes to become a champion, something some on this board haven't a clue of.
