Outside of a terrible losing streak, this win solidly puts us in the tournament. Now its all about seeding and with no absolutely dominate teams this year in CBB this year, hey why not us?
It was a huge huge win for sure and most definitely the signature type win that Pitt needed to get to pretty much guarantee them a spot in the NCCA Tournament. You are seeing progress being made with this Pitt team game in and game out. Adams is getting better every game and he probably had his best game from an offensive standpoint today against Syracuse. Pitt has shown that they can play with the better teams in the country such as Michigan,Louisville,Cincinnati and today Syracuse. It's just a matter of them playing more consistent. You gotta like there chances of getting another win Monday night at home against Seton Hall and getting their record to 7-4 in the Big East and 19-5 overall. I think barring a major major collapse at this point Pitt is going get in the NCCA tournament. I think a win over Seton Hall Monday night at the Pete and a win at either Cincy or at Marquette in one of the next 2 games gets them to 20 wins and will pretty much guarantee them a spot in the tourney...
Great game by the Panthers. They start to look better and better every game. It's starting to look like they have been playing with each other for awhile now. In other words, "chemistry". I think that is what a young team lacks when starting out. They seem to know where and what each other is doing now.....
4 out of the next five would put them on the 5-6 seed spot, if the free throw percentage could go up than this team is extremely dangerous. That is the only achilles heel I see at this moment in time for this Pitt team.
I agree if Pitt can fix this foul shooting problem they have and play consistent every game they can not just get a decent seed come tourney time but they can definitely win a couple games and get to the sweet 16 and then who knows. Boehim said Pitt is the best team Syracuse has played all season it's not even close. Pretty good compliment. I think looking at the rest of Pitt's Big East schedule I think they have an excellent chance to win 12 games in the Big East. There are no teams left on the schedule that really worry me too much at all...

That's just because his team lost. Pitt usually seems to be able to beat the Orange every year for some strange reason. I also agree with the foul shooting. I think the Panthers are capable of BIG things if they make free throws. It really amazes me how some teams are bad at it. Adams is supposedly great at it in practice, but come game time? Amazing!
My opinion, they only lose 2 more games. 24-7 record. Pretty good response to last season, not to mention how young this team is. What is even better is that Steven Adams was supposed to be one and done. But with his inexperience , he got off to a slow start, so he will surely return next season to get his draft stock back up.
I agree I think winning 5 or 6 of the last 8 games and getting to 23 or 24 wins and winning a game or so in the Big East Tournament which is definitely doable as well will make Pitt at the very worst a 6 seed in the NCCA tournament. I think if they can get to be a 5 or 6 seed in the tournament and avoid being on that 7,8,or 9 line Pitt has an excellent chance to win a couple of games and get to the Sweet 16. And if that happens after that as we know in the tournament anything is possible...Winning one or both of those games in Cincy and Marquette would be absolutely huge and do wonders for Pitt's seeding come tournament time...
Back to back road games against teams that we lost to. This team has more experience now, it's gonna be interesting to see how they respond to those losses
HUGE win by the Panthers over the Hall. A loss would of been a BIG setback and a possible bubble team come time picking teams for the tourney. The win puts the Panthers in good position and a solid spot in the Top 25. A loss would of put a big blemish on their resume. They should be able to get in the tourney now. The question is what their seeding will be. So it all comes down to the games left and how far they advance in the Big East Tourney.
With a couple of ounces of home team hope, I am predicting 12-6 / 24-7 for the Panthers this year. That's exactly what I predicted on the poll for the Regular Season Record. I think it's very achievable and that should put them solidly in the tournament.
The results will be the same for any tournament hopeful team. Get a bunch of wins for the rest of the season and in your conference tournament and you'll get a better seed and maybe better chances to advance. I would love it if the Panthers current winning ways continue. It might be a long shot, but I would absolutely go nuts if they won out.
I ask you: Could 14-4 / 26-5 really be possible? I don't think it's impossible when I look at the remaining schedule.
Nothing is impossible, they could win out, but I feel like Cincy will be peeved after the loss to Providence the other night and come ready to go Saturday. I still think Pitt can win that game, now the game against Marquette is the tricky one. There are a couple scenarios that could land Pitt a 3 seed. They win out the rest of the year, regardless of how they do in the Big East tournament will probably get them a 3 seed. If they lose at Cincy/Marquette and either go to the finals or win the Big East tournament, I believe gets them into a 3 seed. I do not however see any scenario, barring a complete collapse of many teams above them that Pitt ever gets a 2 seed this year.
I am sure you all have noticed the growing mentions of this basketball team over the past two weeks, many calling them the most underrated squad in college basketball. Prove them right Pitt, take out both Cincy and Marquette and all of a sudden they are right in the thick of it.
I still like Pitt in this game Saturday at Cincy. I think they are grossly overrated and have lost to a bunch of bad teams this season and have had a lot of close wins against some bad teams as well. They just lost to Providence last night and I truly believe that if Pitt goes in there and plays like they are capable of they will walk out of there with a win on Saturday night. I think they are a better overall team then Cincy and I look for them to go there on Saturday and pull a slight upset and continue to add to their tournament resume in terms of seeding...
2 seed, 3 seed for the team I saw play on Monday?! Man we looked bad then. But, oddly enough so did most ranked teams this week.
I still don't know what to think of this team. Nobody is emerging as a scoring threat/game closer. FT shooting is painful to watch. It's great to make the Tourney but we're going to get bounced fast if we don't figured this out. Another thing, why is no one talking about the lack of scoring from our back court? That's what gets you through the first two rounds. Robinson = 3pt avg last three; Woodal = 5 pt avg last four. Start Woodall and Ziegler as your back court!
I've watch a ton of CBB over the years. This group really looks like a team that could easily get beat by a mid major run/gun in the first round.
Somebody should tell Robinson that it's okay to shoot the ball once in awhile instead of just bringing it up the floor all of the time because he's a point gaurd. Heaven forbid if he ever brought it up and took a 3-pointer! I think one of the coaches should tell him because maybe it's part of their job, no?
I dont mind that Robinson doesnt shoot so much, i would like if he drove to the hoop a little more though. Pitt is a 5 seed on ESPN's bracketology, Cincy being a 4 seed, lets see if Pitt cant flip flop those today. LETS GO PITT!!!
Either way doesn't matter. The point is just because he's a point gaurd doesn't mean he can't score some points one way or another. Which is exactly why I would never consider him the team MVP this season. Definately Patterson, who scores many different ways. He can hit a big 3-pointer or score in close and can also dribble well.
