its like this, i don't think their was a more dirty recruiter in college for ball the Switzer or Schnellenberger. thats why i thought howard would be the man for the job.
The guy is literally 80 years old now. His coaching days are over. He is wondering what brand of Depends to wear. In fact, his days were over a long time ago. As someone else said, he capitalized on his rep from the early 80's at Miami when he had every gang member known to man with good athletic ability on his roster, but he did absolutely and positively nothing ever since.

Well personnally i think your wrong Wheat. Schnellenberger was at OU for less then a year. thats not enough time to do anything, and you or anybody else must be crazy to think so with his back ground. IMO if you can take a school that is nothing(Miami) and take them to the NC, and build up Louisville you can coach. You or anybody else prove he wasn't fit for the job.
He built programs that were nobodies with no history and no real fan following at Miami and Loiuisville. When he came to OU he treated the team, program, and fans as if they were all nobodies with no history and no idea about how to play football. That alone shows you that he was a wrong fit for the Sooners to begin with and did nothing to change the situation. He expected everyone to do it 'his' way and forget about the past decades of tradition to bow to "HIM".
I'm not saying he can't coach. I'm saying he can't coach at OU and should never have been given the reigns to begin with.
Shel, I don't know how many times it takes to get this thru yer thick skull, by the time Smellsofboubon got to OU he was a washed up has been, period. He was a drunk, pure and simple and should never have been hired at OU.Never. However yer boy Boo got plenty of chances and just couldn't cut it as a HC. There is a reason he has never been given another chance and it is because he is not HC material, period.

How do you know. Schnellenberger had just left Louisville and look at what he did there Where were the signs he was washed up.
