For those needing wisdom about Flacco...........

February 7, 2013 11:40 pm

Why I posted this:
I didn't want to, but Raven fans continue to attack me for praising Ravens defense. Why? You tell me. I was praising their team and all of a sudden they take it personal. Anyone out there should know we've been through this before. This elite crap has been dealt with before, but I guess I must provide the wisdom I have as always for you little minded folks. Not all of you are like that because some of us don't wear homer glasses like myself. I don't hate that Ravens won the Super Bowl or that Flacco can now say he is a Super Bowl champion. For those misguided folks who didn't know before, us Steeler fans were in a lose-lose situation before the Super Bowl began. Hell, I knew it was a lose-lose situation when the NFC and AFC championship games were set. Ravens vs Steelers is in my opinion the best rivalry in the game today over Peyton vs Brady or any other rivalry. 49ers winning would mean they would have tied Steelers for the most Super Bowl all-time. So as you can see, I'm not hurt at all by Ravens winning. I knew whatever team won the Super Bowl who first won a Super Bowl would begin this elite talk. Happens every year, but by the time SB comes around the next year.....no one really gives the love they once did to those QBs no matter who they were. Some of you throw the "elite" label around like you give away on Halloween. I personally believe there are 5 elite QBs in the game today. You know who they are. So why is Flacco not elite? I'm not into 1 year wonders like some of you. Some of you stated Vick was elite after his 2010 season. I've had more rants about Rivers and Eli being elite than just about anybody. Why did the elite discussions stop? Because they were who I claimed they were....not elite.

Flacco elite?
Don't feel the need to prove Flacco isn't elite. I find it more obvious than it was with Eli. This dude had 0.3 and .4 QBR this year. 2 of the lowest since the stat was started. Lower than Sanchez and Gabbert as well who are the only ones to be like 1.0. He is also inconsistant where like Eli you never know what you are going to get week in and week out. They lost like 4 straight before they made that run in the playoffs. Am I some hater who didn't give props to Flacco and the Ravens for the victory? I actually did give props to both Ravens and Flacco for the W. All I stated was that he wasn't elite. That is just my opinion. Somehow praising the defense offends Raven fans. You'd think something they prided themselves on all these years they would accept the compliment and move on. No, they take shots at me which I return with shots of my own including Ray Lewis illegal substance. Bring Ben in the discussion which wasn't part of the post. So for those who don't believe the defense contributed the victory....here you go: By the way, yards dont decide football games. What some dumb kid accross the street tells you doesn't mean it is true. You shouldn't be so gullible. If you want to know the answer to things, ask someone who actually has knowledge of the game. If you want to know what decides football games, I'd be more than happy to educate you.

What Ravens defense did for those who missed the games or for those who needs an education

9 points vs the Colts and 0 TDs. 50comp% along with turnovers forced somehow didn't factor in the W while Flacco's grand total of 12 passes he completed meant more?2 turnovers forced, Colts 0-3 in the redzone, defense on the field for 37+ minutes. In yet, Flacco gets the credit for the W?

3 turnovers forced against the Broncos. A pick 6. Defense allowing just 21 points on the scoreboard after 2 special team TDs. Somehow, all Flacco even though the Ravens wouldn't have had a shot to win the game late without that pick 6 to take it to OT.

vs Pats allowing just 13 points not in just the game, but in the 1st half. Not allowing Tom Brady score a single point. Not even put his team in position to score a field goal to make it close. Again, all Joe Flacco? Again I think not. 3 turnovers!!  Less than 6 yards per pass attempt for Tom Brady? 45.1 QBR along with 62.3 passer rating. In yet, defense didn't contribute to them winning or making it to the Super Bowl?

46.1 QBR for Kap, 2 turnovers, 6x 49ers were in the redzone. Only 2x the entire game they were able to put point on the board? 2-9 on 3rd down? In yet, it was all Flacco. Defense did nothing because they gave up hundreds of yards in yet fail to recognize they gave up 0 point on 4 occassions after gaining tons of yards. Thank you for asking to get owned. No way shape or form attempting to hate on the Super Bowl victory the Ravens had. I have nothing, but respect for the Ravens and Ray Lewis. Hell, I listed that as a positive in one of my threads I made before the Super Bowl while someone said it was a negative to see Lewis go out on top winning the SB. This is to remind some of you idiots who keep posting yardage trying to fool someone into believing something that isn't true. You are that kid I'm talking about. You kids posting yardage like yardage decides football games. Obviously, you'd think these small minded Raven fans would get it when the Ravens made it all the way to the Super Bowl with a defense giving up that much yardage. Again, I'm happy to provide wisdom to you folks.

As long as you wrote somewhere in there that Ben is a terrible QB, but a good rapist, I'm fine with whatever other nonsense you spewed.

In the Denver game it was not a pick 6 that took it to OT, it was a nose picking safety who left Jones get behind him for a 70 yard completion with no timeouts and 30 seconds left in the game.  Other than that the facts were right.

The pick 6 that happened on Mannings second or third play on his first drive is what took the game to overtime?  Pure comedy.

And I don't see why you or anyone else needs to discredit one side of the ball.   Joe Flacco and that offense scored 24, 38, 28, and 27 points (taking off Jacoby's return).  That's in the playoffs, two of those games on the road and one on a neutral field.

Both sides of the ball played well in regards to points scored/allowed.  The offense played extremely well in regard to yards gained and they defense played extremely poor in yards allowed (only superbowl winning defense in NFL history to allow 400+ yards in every playoff game).

No side carried the other.  However, if someone is making an argument that the defense should have gotten off the field more to allow the offense more opportunities, then they'd have a serious point.  But still, a complete team won the superbowl

The Steelers beat an 8 win team, a 9 win team and 11 win team with a rookie QB to win the 2008 superbowl. Two 4th seeds and a 6th seed. Surely one of the easiest post season schedules of all time. Ben still needed a 100 yard pick 6 to beat a 9-7 team in the SB. The 2 biggest threats to Pittsburgh in the playoffs, both of whom beat the Steelers in the regular season, where knocked out by Baltimore and San Diego. The Steelers got homegames against 2 teams they had already beaten instead. Not to mention Brady was out that year. Talk about luck.

2005, injured Palmer, Vanderchoke, refs, worst QB to ever win a SB.

I have never called Flacco elite. You can play this game with just about every QB out there. Simply because nobody wins a superbowl alone. So give it a rest will ya.

Rogders, both Mannings, Brees, Brady, Ben, all had a pretty good playoff defenses the year they won the SB. Some of those usually have a bad defenses and still does great. But they haven`t won a SB without it.

If the Ravens can accomplish the same success with a less expensive Alex Smith they can keep more key players like Anquan Boldin Torrey Smith Ray Rice and Haloti Ngata.

^That would be great. But we`re not living in fantasy land. If the only coach to ever get anything out of Alex Smith came with him then maybe. But even Jim benched him for a 2nd year 2nd round pick. And the Ravens need big plays from their QB to be succesfull, I don`t see Alex Smith as a big play QB. Maybe someone like Josh Freeman, atleast he would be able to get the ball downfield.

And Flacco is the only QB in history with a 100+ QB rating four games in a row in the same season.
Rottenberger has the lowest QB rating of any QB in the Super Bowl.  I guess you must admit that he's only a marginal QB.

What Ravens defense did for those who missed the games or for those who needs an education
Then I guess its settled:  The Ravens defense is the best in the league.  THEY won the SB for the team.  The offense did just enough to not lose and this is the second coming of the 2000 ravens D, the best ever in the history of the NFL.

Good job TOOL.  Back handed comments are just another form of hating.

Aaah, the pick-6 that was actually defensive Pass Interference - but not called? The Ravens need to thank the stripes for their work in that game....
