And yet...I disagree with you on that one.
Long will be missed when he will be signed else where. He will demand too much and will only hurt the team on the salary cap.
Imo Martin will do good shoring up the LT position. Lets not forget he did a pretty solid job keeping Andrew Luck upright at Stanford.
Here is what I would do if I were Mr. Ireland here.
Lets start with our O-Line.
LT- John Martin, Guard- Draft Chance Warmack, Center- Mike Pouncey, Guard Incognito and RT John Jerry.
That would be solid and Warmack would pay huge dividends for us in creating holes for our rb and also buy Tannehill some time in the pocket.
WR-First off we cannot let Hartline walk, he must be resigned without a doubt in mind. He has become Tannehill's security blanket. Then I would get Bowe, Wallace or Jennings. Any of those 3 would improve this team in every unique way because each one of those free agents bring different things to the table. If we draft a WR i would wait till the 3rd round and get Justin Hunter if still available.
TE- This is the position with the biggest NEED on our offense. We need to get Cook with no questions asked if that dont work out we need to get back into the 1st round and get Eiffert or Ertz.
Now to one of my favorite positions, RB- Let Bush walk here, sad but this position must always stay young no matter what. RB have a real short life span in the NFL. I would cut Thomas right now, lol. Hes garbage and i cant put it in better words here. Here is my vision. We have Lamar which I think is gonna have a breakout season and we have Thigpen to back him up. Also we could consider signing Felix Jones in FA. But I think we need to reach out in this draft and do what we did last year with Lamar and to pursue Marcus Lattimore. When this guy recovers he will be a threat in this league.
This is what I think is best for our team. Use the rest of the money and draft picks on Defense.
