Since we will soon be into a time of year most can get out to play I thought it might be interesting to hear what, or in some cases who, has helped you improve your game the most.

I'll toss out a few ideas in this poll so some can vote to maybe give us an idea in terms of percentages..however feel free to expand on any of these or whatever else in so doing..
Just getting out and playing. Actually, I've played considerably less the last couple of years and my handicap has gone up quite a bit. So, I guess I'm assuming when I say the inverse (playing more) will turn it around.
When I finally got around to letting a pro help me I was very fortunate it was Claude Harmon! The man turned me into a real golfer vs one that just loves to compete at about anything..
I say real golfer in an amateur sense and by that I mean he got me from shooting in the 80's to where I could consistently shoot in the 70's and sometimes 60's..now there are a lot of pros I wouldn't give a hoot and a holler as worthy teachers..one of those so called highly rated teaching pros is Hank Haney..personally I know several that paid quite a lot of money getting lessons from him and all it got'em was a higher degree of frustration!!
So far the voting is 50/50 on lessons and practice but we only have 4 votes!
Gotta go lessons Jimmy. You can practice for 25 hours a day and it won't matter if you're practicing the wrong things. Practice is ultra important but more from the POV of ingraining the things you're learning from your lessons. Because chances are that your game isn't perfect. Developing that muscle memory of the proper technique for all the shots takes a lot of practice but knowing what you should be practicing is the first step.
Good one GNB....quick story....was playing in an event with some am's...very informal deal. Wasn't playing bad but not good either....was something like 4 over with 5 to play....it was a shotgun start so our last 5 were 1-5 so we stopped at the clubhouse for a few cold ones to help us finish out the round....played the last 5 in 3 under while downing 2 tall boys!

Hey Jimmy, you'll appreciate this....I was at my local PGA section meeting the last couple days and Charlie Epps was one of our guest speakers. Wouldn't surprise me if you had a story or two about the guy! Heck of an entertaining way to pass an hour!
Jay, Charlie's sort of a legend around Houston..good guy..I didn't know him all that well but years ago I had a condo close to Houston CC where he was head pro..
well I wasn't a member but my brother-in-law was..however since it was so close to me I'd go over to their driving range and to get a bucket of balls you had to enter a member # so I'd use who know whose since I knew it..
one day Charlie sees me and he had quite a few times before but this time he comes over says how ya hit'n'em?..I said not too bad..he said haven't I seen you at Lochinvar?..I said yep and in case you don't know already I'm not a member here..he grinned said I know that but quite a few of our members also know it and know who you are but none has said or mentioned it bothers them you hit'n practice balls here..
then he said by the way whose member # do you use to get'em..I said Dolly Dimples Murray he's my brother-in-law..at least that's what I call him..he laughed knew exactly who I was refer'n to then said he has enough money to buy the whole damn place..I said Yep that's him!!
He said if ya need anything just let me know, anything we have in the proshop you can put on his tab too!!
