Chip Kelly's doom = Mike Vick

Most of you know I am a very big fan of Chip Kelly.  But I can not see him succeding as an NFL HC with Mike Vick at QB.

Although Mike Vick is probably the most atheletic and physically gifted QB the NFL has ever seen, but he is not the QB that will help Chip take the Eagles to the promise land.

It is a popular perception that Chip's QBs at Oregon were just more atheletic than everyone they played and that is where the success came from.

But the reality is Chip has largely used disciplined smart mistake free QBs.

Mike Vick is a turnover machine.  In Chip's offense this is a DISASTER IN WAITING.

You can not turn the ball over in this offense or or the Eagles will routinely be blown out.

Vick recently signed a 1 year 10 million dollar contract.  If a new QB comes in in the 2014 season they will be starting over again.  In the Not For Long league, 3 to 4 years is all you get without success.

The 1st year Chip may get a pass by Eagles fans as it is a completly new system.  But in year two results will be expected (if not in year One)

But if in year two we are starting with a new QB the seat will get blazin hot under Chip's trousers.

Is it Andy Reid didnt know how to properly utilize Vick?  Or is it Vick is a 33 year old QB who is who he is?  I believe the latter.

I wish Chip luck with the Eagles but I see a disaster waiting to happen with Vick at the helm.

Side Note:  CBS ADMINS... Plz leave this on the CFB board as it relates to CFB just as much as NFL.  We can have a reasonable debate on the CFB boards.... but on the NFL boards I fear this will tailspin into an Eagles bash thread...

I think that Vick's biggest issue (at least in recent seasons) has been a bad offensive line and him holding onto the ball too long. Kelly's offense works best when the qb can make quick reads and make quick decisions with the ball. If Vick can learn to do that, he should be very successful in Chip's offense. If he can't, then it's just a 1 year contract and Chip will replace him.

I just dont see Vick staying disciplined for 16 entire games to stay "in the system"  He tends to compromise quite a bit.

Hope I am wrong.  But Vick is definitely a Wild Card here...

Rumor had it that the Bills were looking at Vick real hard.  I was so happy to hear about his one year deal in Philly.  Sorry Philly.  He's yours to keep. 

Mamba, you say Vick could be Kelly's undoing, but in reality, Kelly will be Kelly's undoing.
HE is the one who decided to extend Vick a contract.
So if, and WHEN Vick screws it up, it is on Kelly, NOT Vick.

Lets face it, Kelly's first big decision as the Eagles coach was/is not a good one. Actually it is a train wreck. He should have moved Vicks sorry ass outta town, wipe the slate clean, and moved on. But now, he has perpetuated the Vick saga, and now will have a divided locker room as a result. Cuz I promise you, half of that team wants Vicks ass on the road.

Fear?......Philly has a large contingency of black fans, much like Atlanta, and they love  Vick. So maybe Kelly figured he'd give him 1 year, not alienate the fan base, and hope for the best. Also, Kelly may be betting Vick is gonna punk out again like last year, and he can start Foles and it's a win-win.

I'd jump on the "hater" Vick train, but the guy is making ten million for being what many of you believe to be a hack QB in the NFL.

Or....it's says a lot about the state of diluded talent, or lack there-of, in todays Nfl. Lets face it, there are only 5-8 really great qb's in the Nfl. The rest are a buncha tin cans. Not only that, but how/why do all these gm's keep giving all this money to obvious no-talent mo-fo's like Vick, Kolb, Linart, etc......?????........It's pretty obvious to me, that there are a lot of players that have no bidniz on an Nfl roster.

Duck, it aint hate.   It just is what it is.   I loved Vick in college, but he does not seem have the style of quarterback necessary to succeed in the pros.   I am not saying that running QBs cant succeed - wilson, capternick, and RGII did very well - but vick is just missing something.  Its hard to put your finger on exactly what it is, but it doesn't look right.

I heard a stat about Vick.  It was somewhere around 35 turnovers in his last two seasons...  21 games....

I think Kelly might be the one to turn Vick into what he could really be if he could play into his potential! It is the new trend in the NFL for QBs and Vick was probably the first of the new breed. If you dont count Fran Tark from the Vikes! lol


 

The problem is pretty obvious and WM points out, but what is the alternative, and is it better for the future of the franchise?

Vick could easily be past his effective prime, or maybe not!

if he is not Kelly will get him to do his thing, Vick could respond with Aces or he could be holding ACES AND EIGHTS! Know what I mean.
