1. Henrik Lundqvist - He should be #1 on everyone's list. Without him, the Rangers are a 9-12 seed.
2. Martin Brodeur - 3 Cups and a few Vesina's. Although the play style back in the day helped his stats.
3. Jonathan Quick - Having an off year this year but he is still a great goalie with a cup
4. Ryan Miller - Has a high GAA this year (mainly due to the amount of shots he faces a game and bad defense) but can't argue with his save % and his one Vesina
5. Marc Andre Fleury - Mediocre stats. Career stats is more like a back up goalies. But his 1 cup puts him in the top 5.
Dunno where I rank goalies this year. Before the season started, I'd have gone Rinne, Quick, Lundqvist as my top three in order without question. Then it gets hairy. I don't know if I can put MAF there anymore. I would have a couple of years ago, but he's been sliding.
If we're talking all time, then yeah Marty is up there. I don't think he belongs right now.
Surprisingly enough Bobby Lu is back and deserves mention. And Carey Price.
Comparing past and future is tough.
i know Fasth, Crawford and Anderson are having amazing years, but if I gotta pick a golie I wanted for the rest of this year I'd want
Rinne Lundqvist Quick Price Luongo
I know about Bobby Lu's playoff past. I know. I also know Quick has started shaky. Still, I know his potential.
If the NHL was dissolved and I was building a new league and I had the first goalie selection, I would go
Quick Lundqvist Rinne Price Rask
but if you ask me again tomorrow I may have a different list.
Im a fan of Quick and Miller,. Quick has a great future, and already has a Cup... Also Ward, is a good goalie that has played well for Carolina and already has a Cup as well.
At this point I couldn't put Brodeur at #2. The guy still gets it done, but he is not at the same level he was years ago. Alltime, he is one of the best and the 2nd best goalie I've seen in my lifetime. It's no secret his skill level has declined with age, but even so, an old Martin Brodeur is still better than 85% of the leagues goalies.
fleury has no business being in any top 5 category for goalies. he is an average goalie, who has played on very very good teams. goalies i would take ahead of fleury.....
lundqvist quick anderson rinne price luongo rask miller backstrom brodeur halak
i'd lump him in with guys like bryzgalov, pavelec, crawford, etc.
if you put him in your top 5 because he has a cup, despite stats which are AT BEST average, then why not put giguere, ward, niemi, etc.

Then he is one of the best in the business, but that can be said of a lot of other goalies too. Of course he likes to poop pucks once in a while as well.
That works for me. Im kool with anybody after that.
Hahahaha true. Same here

I really like Miller. If he had a better defense around him he could be a top 3 goalie. I'm suprised you said Ward. Despite the Cup and his good 08-09 year, imo he is below average. I do indeed believe he is a top 10 goalie, but just another MAF (with worse stats).
I do love Quick, BTW, my brother went to the same high school as him.

I definitely see your point. I definitely agree he is not his 28 YO self but father time is inevitable. Just for this year, I still believe he is a top 3 goalie but next year it may change. I do agree, I would still take him over most even at age 40.
