Felt like playoff hockey. I'll take it now cuz I don't know if I'll see Philly in it later. Really intense. Those two can put on a show.

Great exciting hockey game. You just have to say hockey has to be the best sport in the world. It has everything. Real men, beating the living crap out of each other, speed, skill, crosby, nastiness, back and forth action. No other sport can provide the entertainment that hockey can.

Anyhow, Philly played well. Boy, I hate saying anything good about that bunch of scum, but you got to give props when there due. Even to them.

Pens showed heart coming back like they did. Too bad that Malkin goal wasnt given to him. Clearly it was in his glove which was behind the goalpost. Should have been a goal.

I dunno, buzz. A good chunk of it was definitely over the line, but I'm not sure it all was. I don't think you could overturn it. REALLY close. Hell of a showdown. I didn't breathe for half of it. Usually rivalries are for the fans, but I do believe those boys feel the rush when they face off.

If either of these teams picks up some decent skating and checking D they might hang with New Jersey and Boston come playoff time.  The Flyers can't check at all for 10 minutes. The Penguins can never hold onto a 2-goal lead.  If Letang or Timonen can get their Larry Murphy these teams can scor ewith anybody and not get shellacked in the process.

Should be three more, Alf!  How they only scheduled these two for four games instead of five is beyond me!?

I know I'm biased, but I can't think of any two teams today that play a more exciting game when they get together.

Its amazing to watch these games. I watch the Rangers play the Pens and they look scared s#it less. Meahwhile Philly attacks them and is able to get them off their game, especially Neal and Malkin. Heres hoping for another long playoff series.

well, here's hopin to the playoffs as far as philly is concerned, nyr. gotta get there first.

i dunno what it is about the Flyers style that bugs the hell out of pittsburgh. i'm sure they'll figure it out. they just need to try and play wide open hockey. the Pens are a very physical team, too, but when they get away from their puck movement and start trying to out muscle philly, then they get themselves in trouble.

play the game you are better at, not their game.

they certainly started that way. the puck movement behind Bryz was killing the Flyers. As soon as the Flyers tightened up and put another man down there, the momentum changed. it got closer and more chippy. philly took advantage.

of course then the seesaw effect crept in when the Pens PP took over late in the 3rd and scored one, exhausted the Flyers comlpetely, and then scored another even strength when Philly was sucking air. Then they were back on their game and it looked like they would win.

Of course, a fluky goal can change everything. especially with a minute or two on the clock.

fun game

A couple of things that are obvious to me.

Flyers are very comfortable playing at Consol.
Flyers are very comfortable playing the Pens.
Laviolette is the master of the time out.
The Pens completely lose their heads when they play the Flyers.
This is the most entertaining rivalry in hockey.

Full props tp the Flyers for not giving up and taking it to the Pens.

Agreed Red. It seems like when these teams meet both teams carry play for stretches of minutes but it goes back and forth as both teams try to impose their will. Crazy game last night as they usually are between these two. You never know which team will win but you can count on an entertaining game. The people who went to the game last night got their money's worth even though the home team lost.

Very entertaining game and the NHL certainly is taking notice. These are the kind of games that gets people into hockey, two teams that flat out hate each other. Everyone plays with intensity and there are so many momentum swings throughout. Penalties galore last night, neither team has to be happy with that.

Glad the good guys came out on top. I was so pissed when the Pens tied the game. Thoght for sure the Flyers blew it. Luckily Byslma made a stupid mistake of starting Vokoun and the Flyers got a lucky goal to seal the deal.

Ready for the next one, but the Flyers need to start stringing off more wins here. Come out with that intensity every night and they will be back in the playoff mix easily.
