Cam Newton ran a 4.58, and Andrew Luck ran a 4.6. RG3 ran a 4.41, but with his track background that's not really a shock.

Austin's "official" time seems off, based on the clip of Goodwin's run layered over Austin's. Goodwin was barely ahead of him at the finish.

There is no doubt that Tavon Awesome is going to be a star, but if he gets put on the right team and situation he could be a stud from the start.  If he falls to the Pats and they let Welker go.......Man he is going to have a great rookie year.

Tavon (who was already projected as a late first rounder) is moving up the board quick!  Most scouts had him faster than his "offical" 4.34.  Remember what the 40 time did for Chris Johnson?  He went from virtual unknown to 1st rounder!  The fact that no QB's OR RB's really set themselves apart today only increases Tavon's stock.  He's the only guy I've heard any commentators speak of "blowing it up".  I've heard it said today that he busrts off the line like he "has a rocket up his a$$"...    He's "Wes Welker and Percy Harvin" combined into one package...   and he's a faster version of DeSean Jackson.  Pretty hefty praise IMO.

If you are a NFL owner of a team with a solid/good offense, how valuable is a JUST a return man like Tavon, much less as a proven WR as well?  Young man is about to get PAID!

Love how our guys have shined in the last two combines.

Same reason he didn't play in the Senior Bowl....IR-knee3 (RG3).

I bet if he would have played they would have given him running plays because that's what people want to see.

Tavon Austin Runs 4.25 40

February 25, 2013 2:27 pm

One thing i harped on this year and people laughed at me that was brought up a bunch yesterday was his leadership ability...he has all the tools to play this game at a high level....what people want to see is can he lead men who are getting paid to play this game.  QB 1 needs to be just as much a vocal leader as a leader off the field.  No one will work hard than him off the field, he just needs to take charge on.

I would love to see him go to the Cardinals, but i also would like him to learn from another QB and not just thrown into the fire...not sure he can go right away.

I agree with you DC, Geno will be better off if he goes to a team that he can learn from another QB, But any team that takes him in the top ten will expect him to play right away.  I also agree with you about his leadership ability.  But in the NFL he will have to earn that role on his team.  I hope Tavon drops out of the First round.  LOL  just so my Lions could take him.

It's going to be hilarious when the Rams pick Tavon with the Skins pick. This is why I am no longer a Skins fan. Stupid stupid stupid decisions like this. Good luck with IR-knee3!
