JJ tears up front end after race Penalty?

No one else is even talking about it....it's a non-issue in my opinion.  There is no need to ask any question, because he's about the 100th driver to tear his front end up in the grass and there has never been any action taken.  I've been doing research since my last post on this thread, and I haven't come up with anything.

If im coming off as a smartass then my bad.

Anyways how bout this.....

Any burnouts, spinouts, etc, must be done ON THE TRACK.   No more sliding thru the grass or retaining wall burnouts. If they so much as scrape the wall or touch a blade of grass then a penalty will be forthcoming.

Hawkeye, Personnelly, they can do what they want as long as the car passes inspection,  But if they tear up the car where a certain area cannot be inspected then a penalty should be forthcoming.  Just like any other failed inspection.

If the damage is done during the race then you can call it a racing incident and they get the pass.

I'm not going to say JJ should be penalized or not.  What I am saying is he tore the car up after the race therefore should NASCAR consider a penalty.

You're opening up a whole 'nother can of worms though if you go that route.  Then if a car sustains damage but wins, like Harvick almost did in his Dega car a couple years ago after being in 3 wrecks...there's a good chance that car wouldn't pass inspection either.  It would be hard to designate that the penalty only be assigned to winners, because cars that are points racing could do that same thing by hitting the wall or something else on the last lap or two to knock it out of whack....aiding in their championship hopes.

If you're going to penalize them, then you have to penalize them all...

What is wrong with doing a simple victory lap? Whatever happened to that? I thought when Alex Zanardi started the victory donut thing that it would only last a few years. Now it's practically a choreographed production.

JJ tears up front end after race Penalty?

Bear, NASCAR has allowed cars to pass inspection that were either too high or too low when they had been involved in a wreck during the race.  But not a self-induced wreck to possible hide something.

Let me ask everyone this question.  The damage JJ did to his car was the on the right  front  of  the car.  And yes, he was aware of where the car left the payment and the area of the track he was in.  What is the most important part of the car the announcers are  always talking about when it comes to downforce.  I do believe it's the right front.

So if the car's fenders were flared to allow even a slight more downforce than allowed,  would JJ not have an advantage?  Would damaging that part of the car post race hide that advantage? and  if he cheated should he be punished?

That is what you should be asking yourselfs.

But nope, anyone bring up anything against the mighty HMS, Chevy or their cronnies,  and it's jump on that person for even asking the question.  Not a one of you people who are jumping on me have come up with a reason why NASCAR  shouldn't look into it, or if you think JJ was or was not trying to hide anything.

And you call yourself fans, but blast the PR guys in the booth and the writers who  follow NASCAR's script.  While you do the exact same thing.

I have to sgree with Mikey on this one.

I didn't think about it but had a group of friends over and one said the same thing when he did it.

               That was intentional

In my opinion it wasn't intentional. Every driver that wins Daytona goes through the infield, JJ just did it wrong. Talk about incompetant, dude can't even do a burnout correctly.

Having said that, I don't see a problem with mikey asking the question. Sometimes I think people on this board dislike others so much they can't look at a post objectively. I'm not pointing any fingers here, I'm sure everyone has been guilty of this at some point. This forum should be for NASCAR discussions and having fun.

Ok, getting off my soapbox now.

Mikey - if NASCAR is going to tell the boys to stay off the roof after the race or face being docked positions the same should happen with the rest of the race car. Jimmy got the win but there is no way to tell if the car is legal.

Is this why Chad kept Jimmy off the race track so much in the last week? One can only say we'll never know if he was legal or not!

Thanks AZ,  I am correct it's the right front that most teams try to get the max downforce on correct?

Thanks about the roof,  That was Harvick If I'm not mistaken they threatened and who was it that blew a tire and NASCAR threatened to fine them and dock points because the car was too low?

But you're right we will never know if that right front could have passed a normal post race inspection.  But you can bet your last dollar NASCAR will never say anything about it. or if they do they will tell the other drivers not to do that.  wink, wink.

Mikey - I'm going to complicate things a bit hereSurprised

I am correct it's the right front that most teams try to get the max downforce on correct?

This all depends in what you want in your set up, most of the time I want equal balance across the nose with Left Rear weight. I found that when I ran Left Rear weight with a balanced nose the car was looser, freer and faster (for me). Putting more downforce on the right front even though it's Aero will really make the rear lite which can kill your drive off speed.

If I go out this weekend I'll check with the guys and see what they're doingWink

If blocking isn't a penalty on a restrictor plate track, why have a double yellow line indicating a boundary of sorts? I don't think a car should be torn up celebrating a victory.

Mikey, not much said about the first foreign car (Holden) victory on Sunday.

CodeBlue, they couldn't say enough about the commador prior to the start of the race.  Didn't you know the car on the track looked just like the Chevy SS at your local Chevy Dealer?  I mean NASCAR did such a great job making sure the Ford, Toyota and Chevy looked just like those showroom cars.  LOL
