Speculation is that the Packers are considering tagging either Greg Jennings or Jermichael Finley. If it comes down to that, the player not franchised is likely gone. That said, if it comes down to these two, which would you select and why.
I voted potato salad because the speculation is just media filler, not unlike potato salad. Honestly, where do these guys come up with this stuff? By the way, Ted Thompson also votes potato salad.
I think Finley is under contract for 2013, but some in the organization want him cut because he's due 8 plus million this year. TT and MM want him back, but others want him gone before his 3 million roster bonus kicks in shortly.
Greenbayalways is correct Finley is under contract it's just he's owed i believe 8.5 mil i beleive he would be 2nd highest paid player, i think the Packers want him back but for closer to 6 million which would still put him around top TE money.
I would not franchise Greg Jennings or Jermichael Finley. I would let Greg Jennings walk, he's going to sign somewhere else for big $$$ and then he will under acheive. Similar to the way that Javon Walker and Robert Ferguson went out. As far as JerMichael Finley goes, I would ask him to restructure his contract from the $8 million to somewhere around $5 million, and if he doesn't, trade his a**.
If GERMAN-Style potato salad was listed, I might have voted for that. I chose Jennings, instead. I think he's worth keeping and valuable to the Packers.
I would franchise Jennings. It is a risk but only a 1 year risk. The Packers always say they would rather have a player leave a year too soon rather than a year too late. Lets keep Jenning one more year and then let him go right on time. Jennings, when healthy is our best receiver, even thought the others are very good.
I don't like Finley but he is only 25 and the TE position is one of the more challenging jobs to master. I think Finley has a lot more promise than Jennings. Cobb had 80 catches last year and won't play special teams in 2013. I think he will emerge as a solid #1. Although I also believe Crabtree and DJ Henderson can adequetely fill the TE role. I still choose Finley bc he allways brings the double team. Finley already made 6 kids. Hopefully he can start focusing on football. He should be out in the Degoba system right now
They won't tag Finley because he's still under contract. I think they may tag Jennings because this could be a very good move. Rotoworld said that the rumors of tagging Jennings were surprising, but it shouldn't have been. Under most circumstances it makes perfect sense to tag Jennings.

As for the question of franchising Jennings. No. Not worth $10 million, even for one season. That money can be better used elsewhere. The Packers have enough talent at the position. I like Jennings, but I don't think his talent level is that of a top 10 receiver....not any more.
Finley I would ask to take a pay cut. He already has stated he would refuse a paycut, so cut his ass. Hes been in the league long enough where his ceiling has been already hit. That was 3 years ago. He has regressed if anything. Way too inconsistent for what he is expected to be paid.
