kinda sounds like Nnamdi might be getting his walking papers if so i am not sure the Raiders would want him back or if we could afford to bring him back. this is what was on rotor world

[Nnamdi Asomugha] - DB - [Eagles]

Nnamdi Asomugha's agent confirms the Eagles are asking his client to take a "massive" pay cut.

It appears the Eagles are asking Asomugha to take a cut so large he'll have no choice but to refuse and earn his walking papers. Both sides need a fresh start.

Im not sure he would be a good fit here anymore. We are no longer a straight man team. Granted we could still put him on a island and play zone everywhere else provided our coaches are smart enough. If they are going to play straight zone then he would fit as well as DMAC did in Knapps system. I would be all over it of they just put him on an island and let him go.

That ship has sailed. He was brilliant when he was here but he is older, on the decline and cost too much. And like the above poster said we dont religously run bump and run anymore.

Thanks for the memories but you can't go home.

The thing people tend to forget about Aso is that he had one good season and then after that teams didn't bother even looking his way. He was a 'lockdown' corner in name only because teams knew they could run the ball up the defense's azz or pick on the loser who was playing opposite Aso (C.Johnson, Routt, Meangelo, F.Washington). his All-Pro status was completely unwarranted. Essentialy he was an Al Davis Scholarship kid who as now been exposed as a me-first hack.

Sorry to be so blunt, but that's the truth.

Interesting take Bojax but i dont agree. Aso was not thrown at because he alowed a very low completion percentage and the breakout season he made teams pay dearly for throwing to him. After that they didn't bother throwing his way because he was the most  unlikely player to complete a pass against.

Other teams prime receivers almost never had 100 yds during his stay here. We have a terrible run D even with him gone yet imediatley we are out of the top passing defense with his departure. Why aren't  teams ignoring the passing game anymore? He was an amazing talent who worked his ass off and was a pro not a me first hack. Now he is an older player playing a lot of zone on a team with no chemistry.

But everybody sees things differently i suppose. On a side note Bo jackson was a me first type player. His biggest concern was staying healthy not producing. Thats why he prefered Baseball. He got hurt anyhow didn't he? Those damn playoffs!

Just that i would throw one back at ya.

Nam in sont stupid, he probably has enough cash stashes to live a great life. His stock has plummetted, he is from California, he loves California, and he was very active in the Bay area. I wouldnt say it is a pipe dream. It is possible, maybe not probable but possible.

Only mistake you made cal was correcting yourself. Typos can't be corrected. My post are riddled with need for proof reading.

I can see him going to the niners on the cheap, they're near home and are possibly a few players from that ring, why would he come back to Oakland with his tail between his legs when he can go over there...

NA21 is not coming back here guys, neither if CWood.  It will never happen.  They want to win.  The Raiders are no where near ready to make a deep playoff push.

Run the same offense that Hue Jackson ran, get NA21 and CWood starting in the secondary and the Raiders are a MLB and a run stuffing DT away from being able to make a playoff push.  CWood and Branch make a great starting safety combination.  NA21 on an island, maybe with safety help over the top.  That really would be all it takes for the Raiders to get to the playoffs.  I don't think they would make a deep push, but they would be able to get there.

Bisandcan, your making a claim based more on assumption than anything else.  Keep in mind that this team at present is not run by Hue Jackson, it is ran by an Idiot in Dennis Allen and a suspect offensive line other than little wiz and valdheer.  Also, how does bringing in C-wood or NA21 solve the issue at DT and DE?  Your saying that if the Raiders get a run stuffing DR and a good MLB.  Those dont just grow on trees man.  The Raiders also have no pass rushers.  All I am saying is the Raiders need way more than the old offense of Hue Jackson and C-wood/NA21 back to be good.  This team needs a culture change and a mindset change.  I also dont see this team going far with Dennis Allen regardless.

He's not going to come back here, tail between his legs, and play for less money on a team that clearly isn't going to make the playoffs this year. He does still have charities and other social programs currently in the Bay Area that he works with along with stuff at CAL, but if he does return to the Bay it's going to be with the Niners. They have 15 draft picks this year, which means they have money to burn. I could fathom seeing both NA21 AND Revis in a Niner uniform next year. Which of course makes me sick but they have put the pieces together correctly. Not only are they stacked with good players, they have cap space and draft picks to use for high caliber players.

A difficult call here but the Raiders are desperate for CB's and I wouldn't be surprised if Nam came back home for he never wanted to leave anyway. He obviously don't have a leg to stand on as far as commanding big money so he could come on the cheap as well if he is released. I believe he needs a fresh start as well so it is a possibility I would welcome, if anything teach the younger cb's the techniques and how to be a legit cb.

I stated a long time ago, before he was let go, that Nnamdi needed us just as much as we needed him, because were the only team that asks our corners to play man to man and this makes him look like a star.

He doesnt have good instincts as far as route jumping and combination recognition.

He would do nothing for our defense. Id rather bring in Tracy Porter, Derek Cox, Sean Smith. this cornerback crop is actually tailored to our needs....because all of them are middle tier guys that wont command a ton of money.
