So Coach K goes National about the storming of the court after last night's LOSS to UVa & gets angry?? Hahahahahahaha!!! This is the same coach whose fans are the most CLASSLESS & OBNOXIOUS FANS on the planet?? The same coach whose fans disrespect an opponent's player's recent family loss is whining about fans storming the court? The same coach whose fans (some that is) went to a "racial rager" on Duke's campus? Give me a break!! If the Cameron Morons would have stormed the court at Cameron, Coach Rat wouldn't have said a word!! And he shouldn't be concerned about catching Miami as much as he should be concerned about being caught by the Heels!! DUCK FUKE!! Hahahahahahaha!!

As I just said on another thread,   I have watched Duke play basketball under Krzyzewski for many years.  They have been America's "teflon" team--nothing has stuck.  They have made an art of holding onto jerseys and "taking charges" that were clearly blocks as well as other sleights of hand that Duke has regularly "gotten away" with.  So, I for one do not want to hear any Duke fan whining and playing the victim.  I mean, really?  Your whining amounts simply to not liking what the rest of us have been taking from the Blue Devils for many years.  I am not sympathetic.  Don't dish it out if you can't take it.

It's an ESPN agenda to remove the storming the court incidents from the game.  I guess ESPN wants more control over the "product."  Virginia had marshalls separating the players and coaches from the mob, so everything Coach K and the players on ESPN said about getting caught up in the melee and exchanging profanities was a fabrication of the truth.

I agree that the Duke fans at the games can be really obnoxious; that said, I had no problem with Coach K's interview after the game.  His concern is the safety of his players and when a group of people storm the court, security is powerless to come to a person's aid if needed.  He also congratulated the Virginia players and stated they worked harder than his and played a better game.  What's so bad about that?.....agree with every word and I'm not a Duke fan.

Coach K is the biggest whiner in the game....  but this time I agree with him.

it seems as if i'm in the minority on these boards as this subject has been mentioned several times.  How many times this year have the court been rushed??  it seems as if any team beats a team thats ranked higher the fans feel the need to storm the court..  How many times has it happened this year?  ACC and Big 10 seem to be the worst, Could be wrong, but seems like everytime IU or Duke has lost this year the opposing fans have rushed the court.

I guess their are times when its appropriate,  last year when IU beat UK I can understand.  UK was #1 and undefeated at the time, IU's program had been down for several years, and IU won on a last second shot.  In those cases its just an automatic response for fans, but these days most cases the game is well within hand and the fans start lining-up, planning a rush as soon as the horn sounds.

At some point some player (and keep in mind most of these are big, athletic guys) is going to punch a fan who smarts off or makes a dumb comment to a player who is already pissed about losing.  Sad thing is, the media and everyone else will take it on the player..

If a player responds to taunting by punching a fan, the deserve scorn. If the fan initiates a physical confrontation all bets are off, but yo-mamma comments are just something these players have to put up with.

Of course, you could always pull a Jared Sullinger and lie about getting spit on by fans. It was McDowell from the grassy knoll!

Runeman, was the visiting team not being protected?  Video proof that Virginia marshalls had formed a barrier between the students and the Duke sissies.  If anything VA set the standard for how to handle the court storming.  Coach K is simply a whiny ass!

The way Duke has been playing, Coack K is gonna have to put up with a few more court stormings and then he can stop whining, hopefully 1st round of the tourney it will all be over, you poor thing, you:)

perhaps K whining was to turn media attention away from the fact that the players were anemic last night.  No one is talking about the game and how badly dUKe played, they are all talking about k's comments afterwards and the storming the court debate..... hmmmm

whiner?  absolutely.

evil media master?  absolutely.

I'm a huge fan of rushing the court.  When a team walks in with a big reputation and can't defend it against a lowly team, I think it's perfectly fine for fans to rush the court. The VAST majority of those fans are just excited and going nuts.  Sadly, the fringe nutjobs do what they do...but trust me, the Duke team will have maximum security at all times.  They know the deal.  I think it's an opportunity to eat a nice big piece of humble pie and will hopefully result in motivating the losing team to not repeat the feeling.  There have been a bunch of great upsets this seasons.  I will add that Kentucky really doesn't know much about rushing the court because the team has been so good for so long.  When you are a fan of a lesser team...think of Penn St.  especially this year...you don't think they can rush the court when they beat the mighty Wolverines?  I do.

about rushing the court:

it comes with success.   if you are a successful team and you lose on the road, expect the court to be rushed.

in the SEC, rushing the court or rushing the "field of play" will result in fines from the conference.

and my personal opinion that certain basketball teams should never rush the court during regular season.  those teams are : North Carolina, dUKe, Kansas, Indiana, and Kentucky... ie: elite teams...   I would have included ucla, but they suck and besides, Sam Gilbert bought all those championships....  so screw 'em.

No geneh, Duke does suck, in their own special way. Like those who have no relevance in this years tourney, but can't stop themselves from "door to door sales-manning" their irrelevance....it's more like an annoying kind of suck, similar to that....yet Duke actually is relevant and sucks!

Only crappy teams fans storm the court. I can't remember the last time MSU's fan Astor,Ed the court. Even if we beat a team with a higher ranking we act like we've done it before. I don't want to agree with K, but he is right. Court storming should be banned starting today.

it seems as if i'm in the minority on these boards as this subject has been mentioned several times.  How many times this year have the court been rushed??
During the Duke game last night, the numbers of how many times this had happened this year were mentioned.  I think they said in January and February combined, a top five team had lost 18 times.  Whether or not the court was stormed every time, I'm not sure, but I would guess it happened about 15 or 16 times.

ACC and Big 10 seem to be the worst, Could be wrong, but seems like everytime IU or Duke has lost this year the opposing fans have rushed the court.
Considering Michigan, Indiana, Duke and Miami have all spent a good amount of time in the top 5, when they lose on the road, the court storming is inevitable...especially against Duke.  Here's some instances:

Early Jan - NC State def #1 Duke...State has been irrelevant for so long - pretty understandable.
Late Jan - Miami def #1 Duke...when was the last time Miami had beaten Duke - totally understandable.
Early Feb - TCU def # 5 Kansas...didn't see this game...not sure if it was stormed, but it should have been...TCU plays hoops?
Early Feb - Illiniois def #1 Indiana...rivals and the Illini fans won't have much more to cheer about this season...storm for sure!
Mid Feb - Maryland def #2 Duke...last game as ACC opponents...storming a no brainer.
Feb 23 - Wake def # 2 Miami...Wake hasn't been competitive since Duncan in '98?  I'm surprised they don't storm after every win!
Late Feb - Penn State def # 4 Michigan for PSU's 1st B1G win of the year...'nuff said.
Last night - UVA def # 3 Duke...not sure if this one is really justified...two of the top 4 teams in the ACC...but UVA rarely beats Duke
and I'm sure the fans were sick of K's whining so they thought they'd do it with the hopes of pissing him off more...and it worked.

There's no court storming in the NBA, so I love seeing it in college hoops...and as much as I hate seeing court stormings at UNC's expense (Fla St last year) it would be a shame if someone tries to put a stop to it...like Coach K...so shut your trap.

Cause storming the court is actually a compliment to the team that just lost.  It means the home crowd didn't expect to beat such a formidable opponent and they are so excited that their team just won a game they had no business being in and they can't control their emotions anymore...and their celebration cannot be contained to the small seating area so they rush to the closest level ground where they can jump up and down and hug and high-five more people than if they stayed in their seats.

I don't know what K said or what he didn't like, but if he can't handle a court storming or two...or four, maybe it's time he calls it a career.

Teams should know when a court storming is coming and if they have half a brain, they'll know and be getting out of the way when the clock hits 0:00.
