iOn Dave Moody's afternoon show on Sirius, a caller asked if Goodyear was getting out of supplying tires to home tracks. His track in Northern Calif. had sent an email to all their participants telling them Goodyear was no longer servicing local tracks and Hoosier would be what they run in 2013. Can anyone confirm this or shoot it down. Seems to me Goodyear might be cutting off their nose in doing this. Got to wonder if it wasn't profitable for them or if there are production problems if this is indeed true. Was just wondering. Seemed odd.
I assume you mean NASCAR Home Tracks switching. I'll be honest until Goodyear tried to take over tires for WoO the last 2 seasons, I had not seen a Goodyear racing tire outside of NASCAR in a long time. Pretty much everybody around here runs Hoosier or American Racers. So I'm not really sure how big of a business it was for them.
I think you'd be better off without the Goodyear tires. I know NASCAR lives and breathes them, but there are definitely better, much better, tires out there. GY did you a favor.
