LOCK THREAD CONCEPT -

This thread has been created for all of us to share our expertise with everyone else to benefit the group.

THIS IS NOT A PICKING CONTEST!

PLEASE make special note of this!!! If you have an area of expertise - Pac-10, NBA, Soccer, MLB, Big East, NHL, etc. - please make some LOCK choices from your area of expertise when you have a game you are confident enough in to call it a "LOCK". The difference between a PICK and a LOCK is that a PICK is a game you like, a LOCK is a game that you KNOW. We are here to help each other win. If you are claiming your choice is a LOCK, and you really have NO true knowledge of that game, then you are just cheating us and posting your PICK just for attention and to see your name on the board.

RULES FOR POSTING -

We take it upon ourselves to donate our time and track everybody's LOCK every day, as long as you agree to do your part by doing a few simple things. We will not track your LOCKs if you do not follow these rules. You are welcome to still post your PICK or card, but unless you do the things below, we won't be putting your LOCK on the spreadsheet.

- Post only 1 LOCK per day. You may post a MAXIMUM of 4 LOCKS per week. A week starts on Monday, and ends on Sunday. Choose NCAA, NBA, NFL, or NHL. You do not have to stay in one sport. Spread them around if you like.

- No "buying" points for LOCKS.

- We want the LOCKS posted early enough so we can all benefit . If the LOCK is not posted within 30 minutes of the scheduled CBS start time the LOCK will not count.

- No other "line-manipulations: like teasers, etc

- 1st Q, 1st half or mini lines are OK. No second half or quarter lines. Time constraints make second half lines too tough to track.

- No parlays. Period.

- Props are OK as long as you give a site where we can check the line.

- Hockey, baseball, and soccer plays need to be -129 or better. No HUGE favorites for LOCKS. Anything -130 and over, take the -1.5 goals or runs if you feel like it is still a LOCK.

- Do not try to cheat on lines. We, as a group, are all over the lines and every time someone gives a stinky spread, it is always called out. If the line is off, the LOCK doesn't go into the spreadsheet.

- LOCKs MUST be posted 30 minutes before the time CBS says the game is set to go off, anything less than 30 minutes the LOCK will not count.

And, THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE!

You must give an original explanation as to why you KNOW this LOCK will win. And don't just "stat" us to death. Tell us about the game. And if you are going to try and fool us by cutting and pasting from another website, at least figure out how to remove all the HTML and other garbage. People on this thread are all over the internet and will find your plagiarism. I guarantee it. You can use Last 10, ATS, etc., numbers to support your argument, but stats from a gambling website are not an explanation. They are stats that any of us can get anywhere on the internet. Also, how about if you have actually SEEN the team play that you pick. I'd say that if you haven't seen a team play at least a few times, you can't really be an expert on the said team.

Here I go with my first lock LOCK MICHIGAN ST. +4.5 Michigan has been exposed ever since the second half of conference play. Sure they have one of the best backcourts in college but they really have nothing else. Morgan is a role player and nothing more and Robinson the third has been one of the biggest dissapoointments in college.This time of year these games not only come down to the players on the floor but the coaching. Izzo also has one of the best backcourts in colllege, but the difference is they play defense and Michigan has no answer for the inside play of MIchigan St, If you can get Mich St + points Id take it every time Im going to play the ML on this as well Good Luck guys. Virginia and the road is a complete different story, Virginia on the road in the ACC is 2-5, let's take a look at Virginia and the road, lost by 4 at Miami, lost 12 at UNC, won by 11 at Md, lost by 6 at GT, won by 16 at Va Tech,lost by 15 at Clemson and lost by 3 at WF. Virginia is 3-6 SU and the road. Boston College is 10-6 SU at home. Boston at home loss to Duke by one and Miami by one two very good teams. Morning everyone, 2-1 on posted plays yesterday only to have my lock play being the lone loss on my lobos. Some of you may have pushed if you got it at -11. Nothing here i see today that i will be locking. I will have some smal plays on Heat -4.5 and the Bobcats +8 and Thunder + 2. Good luck gang

Wssup boyz. Went 1-2 in NBA yesterday, 1-0 on reg NCABB plays and 0-4 on NCABB System plays. (NCABB "System" Plays -- 39-38 YTD; NBA: 20-12 last 32; 28-19 on POD's)

There are no NCAAB System Plays today....which may be a good thing after yesterday's 0 for.

Getting these plays in early before the line starts to fluctuate.

Bulls/Pacers UNDER 179
Lakers -5.5

Hoping to get Mavs up to 6 and lower this Heat/Knicks total a bit as well.

Just a little info.   Wisconsin  is 5-0  last 5 years in final home game.  Visitor in this series is 12-25 and the Badgers are 6-0
as a host in this series off a double digit win. 

Only have a few minutes so I am getting this one in now:

LOCK - Washington/Washington State under 131

This game is a heavy rivalry and will be played with intensity.  For WSU, all they have left really for this year is to beat Washington and although I don't think they will, I think they will play them tough.  Basically this is a tale of a couple teams that a scoring-challenged and can't shoot very well.  WSU will have no interest in running with UW, and Washington is not a running team any more anyway.  they have decided to focus more on defense and valuing the ball.  Not enough scorers on the floo in this one and I theink the pace will be deliberate.  Both teams have been playing a lot closer to 50 than 70 lately and I think it continues today, in a sloppy, ugly, slow game.  The only real true "scorer' on either team is the Cougars' Motum, and I think that Washington has enough big defensive options to slow him down.  I expect a lot of passing the ball around the perimeter in the half court and taking late shots.  Both teams in the 50's today.

LOCK...OVER 100 TEAM TOTAL HEAT

I have a ton of reasons why I love this play which fall into three catagories, Stats - recent performance-and intangibles. First the stats. As a team the Heat are the 5th highest scoring team in the NBA averaging almost 104 ppg. They are #1 in shooting percentage (49.6% ), #1 in two point shooting percentage ( 53.4%), and #2 in 3 point shooting percentage ( 39.3%). I find the fact that the Heat attempt the fewest shot attempts per game in the entire NBA indicates that they have multible weapons and are very tough to defend. They currently have three players in the top 20 in shooting percentage and all three are over 51% ( James,Bosh,Wade). They can drive to the hoop, hit the jumper, or hurt you from 3 efficiently and consistantly. They have a competant and diverse bench with players like Battier and Allen who can come in any time and provide instant offense especially from 3. The Knicks defense has been decent but they do allow opponents to hit nearly 49% of their shots and are vulnerable to allowing fast break points. The Knicks attempt more 3's than any other team which I feel helps this play. nIf the hit the Heat will try to keep pace, if they miss it will create fast break opportunities. Now for recent play. The Heat are the hottest team in the NBA winning 13 in a row. During tis streak they have been held below today's number just 3 times but two of those were against IND and Chic or are 1st and 3rd in points allowed. Boesh is currently at a career high in shooting percentage and Chalmers is shooting 51$ ( 50% from 3) in his last six games. The Knicks have won 3 in a row and have played an adequate defense but two of thos wins were against Phil and Wash who have the two worst offenses in the league. Lastly the intangibles. The Heat have done just about everything this season. They have the best record in the East, 2nd best record in the league, and are going for a franchise record 14 in a row. The only thing they havent done tis season is beat the Knicks. If there ever was a statement game this would be it. I live in the NY area and have heard on the local radio stations that the Heat arrived early to get settled in before this game. I'm not sure who will win but I'm confidant that the Heat want to do more than just win, they want to dominate.
