I say yes. Marino is already known as one of the best, in my view he was also the best pure passer the game has ever known, if he had won even one SB I think that would have been enough to even surpass Montana, your thoughts?NO, the reason being is that a 38 year old Montana took the Chiefs to a 11-5 record and an AFC title game his first and only year there after missing a couple of years. The only other players that I can remember on that Chiefs team was an aging Marcus Allen, Derrick Thomas and an average J.J. Birden at wide reciever. I might be wrong here, but I do believe that was the last time the Chiefs won a playoff game. I'm not pokin fun at the Chiefs. Just using that piece to help me explain my opinion.
And I remember Marino buying his guys Isotoner gloves for Christmas, lol. But that was just a commercial.
There are a lot of QB's I would take ahead of Dan Marino, so, no, that means he's not the best QB ever. If OP wants to say that Dan Marino would be better than, say, Tom Brady if Dan had only won a Super Bowl, then so be it, but he isn't the best ever, lol.
Just to be clear, I wasn't making a statement there. I'm just clarifying that, by saying Marino would be best ever if he won one Super Bowl, you must therefore be saying Marino is better than everyone else, including Tom Brady, by winning the one Super Bowl.
Yes, it's a changing of eras which prevents it from being an apples-to-apples comparison. If Brady had played in these guys' era for example, we know for sure he'd have one less Super Bowl (because the Tuck Rule did not exist).
NFL, again am not necessarily disagreeing with you, but a player is awarded a good prize such as the MVP for that year, yes, it is not the same as the Super bowl ring but having great stats in a year can win the MVP in a given year. The MVP has been a beauty contest for seasons now, and often doesn't go to the most deserving, but to the media darling of that season.

So Marino at 1-1 (and at 2 INTs assuming he didn't throw any in the hypothetical win) would be better than Joe at 4-0 and no INTs?
No, that's Joe Montana. To be the best ever he'd have to have won 4.
