You had it right the first time with Gus Johnson but I like Elmore too.  And get rid of One Shining Moment...I'm ready for a new tune.

Charles Barkley tells it like it is
Really? REALLY? He had no clue about anything that was going on, did no homework on any of the teams, picked losing teams to win at least 75 % of the time. He was a pair of clown shoes. I agree that mentally handicapped people should not be discriminated against but they shouldn't be on TV for people to laugh at either.

What would improve the NCAA Tournament?

I'm sure they'll do it again this year, but having the guys from Inside the NBA doing coverage last year was great.

Charles Barkley should run for president.
Yeah until they talk about rules and regulations that don't exist in college basketball.

I didn't realize there was a 24 second shot clock and a no charge zone.

I think it's a stupid idea. If I'm gonna watch a TV talk show about college basketball--the guys should actually know what they're talking about. It's obvious that guys like Charles Barkley don't.

to answer the opening post, I would like to see the play-in games become true play-in games. Only the winner gets credit for a tournament appearance. Also, get rid of the 16 seeds from the play in games. I think winning your conference should get you into the field of 64.

On the other hand, a 16 seed getting to play a competitive game on tuesday is probably better for them and since they get a chance to get a touney win, I think keeping it as is would be fine.

I do miss the classic 64 team format though

History says there's a 0% chance of a 16 seed beating a 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

So really it's more like, "not a chance in the world."

Some of these 16 seeds are pathetic and deserve to get laughed at hysterically as the exit the court with the L.

Well, it's happened. This is what stinks about these conference tournaments. Liberty (15-20), which tied for 9th out of 12 teams in it's division, is in. Charleston Southern (19-12) gets to party in the NIT. Woopee!

Stop giving Duke a number 1 seed when they clearly didn't earn it and letting them play in the NC region in their backyard! Egregious

I thinkthe tournament is just about perfect the way it is.

With the automatic bids, averybody thats not on probation is in the tournament.  Liberty earned their spot.  Conferences do have the right to send their regular season champs to the dance, btw, but why is it that none of them do except for the Ivy League?  Because conference tournaments are great.  It gives every team in the country except for Northwestern a chance to hang a championship banner.

I love the upsets.  Hell, my team has been beaten by a nobody from a nothing conference, and I still wouldn't change a thing.  I think its great that the best team doesn't always win.  If I want to see the best team win, I watch the NBA.

Strongly agree with taking it back to 64.

Otherwise I would have the games spread out over more days and later into the evening to further minimize multiple games going on at once.  The first weekend would take several more days or perhaps another weekend.

Even the regional semi-finals, they try to squeeze 4 games if I'm not mistaken into a maybe 5 or 6 hour window.  Give each game it's own stage, find 8 hours each on those Thursday and Fridays each year.  I want to watch a basketball game, not 2.

Get rid of the conference tournaments.  That would free up another weekend for games which mean more.  Conference tournament games mean too many different things to different teams the way things are.

With larger and larger conference it might also create a bit more opportunity for more cross divisional games among power conference members on home courts for the regular season crown which is a lot, lot more meaningful IMO than a conference tourney title.

Ok.  Let the ACC keep their tourney as that is history kind of thing.

And yeah,  Gus Johnson needs to return.

Except, of course, when Mizzou won and KU didnt in last season's B12 tournament.

I'm all for getting rid of the conference tournaments. They can be fun and all of that, but doing away with them would prevent flukes like Liberty (15-20) from getting an undeserved spot in the NCAA tournament. Something stinks big time when teams like Middle Tenn (28-5), Mercer (23-11), Norfolk St (21-11), Stony Brook (24-7), etc. are left out, but Fluke St gets in. The conference tournaments won't go away because we all know what talks. I just wish the importance of them didn't outweigh the regular season as it does in most of these conferences.

Returning Gus johnson, back to 64 teams, no conference tournaments: amen to all of those ideas.
Worst ones I've seen: getting rid of "One Shining Moment" and utilizing "Get a Clue" Charles Barkley (the dufus couldn't even name the "Butler kid" every time he was describing some of their crazy endings in the 11 tourney- especially the memorable Pitt game- uh Charles most every "Butler kid" was part of the 2010 national runner-ups!!!!)
