Hey everyone, this week will be a little different due to the fact that 5 Premier League teams will be playing in FA Cup Quarterfinal fixtures meaning that we have 4 few Premier League matches to predict this week. This means that we have either 9 matches for this week or do something special to get 13, I've decided to do something special.
After doing some researching first through lower English divisions and then other top flight European leagues, I have chosen four matches based on the following criteria: 1) being within three points of one another (four if necessary), AND 2) positioned to improve their chances for Promotion or European competition. The four matches are Burton Albion-Cheltenham Town (English League Two), Grimsby Town-Kidderminster Harriers (English Conference National), Lazio-Fiorentina (Serie A), and Lyon-Marseille (Ligue 1). Besides these four bonus matches you'll still be able to choose three matches of your own.
Well, I must say given how the old PLPP has been going for me this year, maybe some weird blue Square League games will be just what I need.
I appreciate you not forcing us to predict MLS games so here goes:
SATURDAY, 9 MARCH 2013
1. Norwich v Southampton 1 v 1 One of many dull games this weekend in the EPL
2. QPR v Sunderland 2 v 0 QPR lost about GBP 30M. One year's taxes not paid by Mr Redknapp and they should be back in the black
3. Reading v Villa 2 v 1 Relegation six pointer. Benteke to Spurs when Villa go down?
4. WBA v Swansea 1 v 2 WBA don't draw
5. Burton Albion v Cheltenham Town 2 v 1 Cheltenham is for horses.
6. Grimsby Town v Kidderminster Harriers 1 v 1 Years ago Kidderminster was a non-league side and Grimsby was a crappy fishing port. Some things change, some don't.
SUNDAY, 10 MARCH 2013
7. Newcastle v Stoke 1 v 1 Crouchy kicks a guy in the face and gets nothing. Nani cleats a guy on the arm and gets a red.
8. Liverpool v Spurs 2 v 2 Suarez vs Bale. Cannot see less than 4 goals in this one. predicting the draw worked last weekend. Here goes.
9. Lazio v Fiorentina 1 v 1 At least I could find out where these two teams played.
10. Lyon v Marseille 3 v 1 Had a very unhappy day in Lyon about 25 years ago. Glad we trashed them in the Euopa League
