Who knows what to expect from this team going forward. I thought after that rough 1-3 stretch that we would be in good shape heading towards the 2 big home games against MSU and IU. But instead they laid an egg @ Penn st. and played uninspired games against Penn st. at home and Illinois. Just when you want to toss in the towel on a chance to still win the Big 10 they get help from Minnesota and OSU beating Indiana. Now playing Purdue tonight should be a very winnable game. That being said the Boliermakers just upset Wisconsin on the road and Michigan has lost 5 straight away from Crisler. I hope that after a good win over the Spartans they turn it up tonight and not let off the gas pedal if they get a lead. Sunday can be another great match up if everything is on the line. Go Blue!
Our basketball team is soft and plays a low ceiling gimmick system that can get us to the tourney but not much further. If getting to the tourney is our main goal, then we should be happy, but if we ever want to contend for the title, then we have to bring in someone who will coach big boy basketball... where things like defense, rebounding, and inside game are important... also it would be nice if the players displayed some mental toughness too.
This team has loads of potential but lacks rebounding and is soft as hell in the post. After watching today and seeing their collapse it just looks like another quick exit from the tournament. I still don't understand why this team doesn't play a big line up more. Playing 2 SG is not the receipt for success.
This Michigan team reminds me of Wisconsin except they are a gimmick offense rather than defense.. Good chance they don't make the sweet 16 let along final four or elite eight..
Maybe it's a "West Virgina" thing! Rich Rod was all offense and they swallowed the pill many times vs good teams. JB ( X-WVU coach) also is known for his offensive style which differs some from most offenses also has defensive issues. He refuses to preach rebounding and his team has gotten worse. WVU style is to out score'em. or lose. Looks like another early exit unless they correct their major rebounding problems.
I can understand when teams that lack size and talent use this gimmick system, but when you actually have AA and All Big 10 talent with a bunch of top 100 recruits, using this system is an injustice to basketball itself.
