word is out - we're resigning Baker

According to Jason LaCanfora, the Falcons have reached a six year deal with LT Sam Baker.   ESPN's Pat Yasinskas has also reported that we have resigned Baker.

So this one is looking like it's probably not another D-Led false alarm.  We probably have resigned him.

The downside:  odds are we're pretty close to being tapped out in terms of cap space.   We're still waiting for details on Tony Gonzalez, but between TG, William Moore and Baker plus Garrett Reynolds, we've probably used up about $16 million of the roughly $20 million we had available.  And we still have more of our own free agents out there, such as Vance Walker, Chris Owens, and Will Svitek.

Done, six year deal. Hope they spread that thing out. Looks like the Falcons are not through changing out the old guards, more cap space coming.

Maybe on the changing out the old guard.  But there aren't many players left that they could cut and get significant cap space from it.  The main one would be Jonathan Babineaux.

I'm watching other factors along those lines.  We have only one DT under contract beyond this season (Travian Robertson) and one other prospect (Micanor Regis) we could pull up from the practice squad.  Babs, Corey Peters and Peria Jerry are all in their final contract years, and Vance Walker is a free agent right now.

If we really did want to change out the guard, we'd resign Swagger Vance and bid farewell to Babs.  That move would clear $3M+ of cap space.
