Im happy with this as long as it doesn't handicap the team finiancially down the road. Not only does this make the Vikings better, but it takes away from the Packer's offense.. killing 2 birds with 1 stone. Now they just need to get another WR in the draft and they should be just fine offensively.
For me it's bitter sweet.....Jennings is a great player but I'm just hope Ponder/Cassell can step up and run the offence to allow Jennings to be as good as he can be for us. Jags are wasting Blackmon because they lack a QB ....don't want that to happen here and waste this opportunity.
As a lifelong, diehard Packers fan, I wish Jennings but luck the rest of his career, except when he plays my Packers. No doubt it will be strange seeing him in purple and gold...but that is the way it goes. I know that when he returns to Lambeau field, he will get a loud cheer from the fans.
This almost makes up for Harvin not working out, if we can find a winner with the first round pick I can say "Harvin who?". Jennings is a better reciever than Harvin but Harvin is a more dangerous player, so yea it made my night too.
I think what Hutch said was spot on. I'm very surprised Jennings decided to sign with the Vikings for that simple fact. I'm guessing the other offers that Jennings received were much lower than the Vikings cause choosing Ponder over Rodgers is crazy to think about. I still think the Vikings bring in another WR in FA, although not the big name that Jennings is but still some other body. Not to mention drafting a couple this year and hoping Childs comes back.
I still do have faith that good things can come from the offense this year. Peterson carried this team the 2nd half of the season without a passing offense. 8-9 man fronts almost every play and he still ran effective. Think if we can get any sort of passing game with Jennings, Rudolph, and whoever else can step up. Put a few more players on D and they can make the playoffs again. Crazy I know, but I was thinking 8-8 last year would have been crazy.
