Where are the Hawkeyes?

A win by 20 AT Gonzaga.
A win over Indiana.
A win over Ohio St. by 20.
A win over Butler on a neutral court.
2 wins over Minnesota (one of the road and one neutral site).

And ONE bad loss: at home to Northwestern (no excuse for that one AT ALL). Purdue on the road was not a bad loss.
 

I think it's fair.  If the Hawkeyes could have racked up a win or two against the best teams it would be different.  Wisconsin was our best win.  0-6 against top 25 puts us in the NIT.   I think next year will be different.

Now there's a reasonable Hawkeye fan. I agree with everything you just said Artvan.

And Iowa hoop is headed in the right direction. Tough to recover after Alford...

Actually he is right, I think it's safe to say we have recovered from lickliter era. Recovering from Alford's tenure will never fully happen for 30+ years unless we surpass what had been established the 30 years prior to his arrival. Alford wasn't ready for what the expectations were for him. He had burned too many bridges and pissed all over Iowa fans by the time he could have been considered ready. However until he doesn't have Noodles on his staff I don't think we will know how much better he himself is.

I think the NIT is a better fit for the Hawkeyes.  They have a chance to go deep in the NIT and gain more playing time, experience and confidence.
Get into the NCAA and Iowa is probably a one and done team.  
Iowa is full of young kids.  The more playing and practice time they can get the better.
Their inexperience was evident down the stretch in a bunch of close games this year.

 

Class of 1988. They did not deserve it with that 76 RPI. Need two good non-conference wins too.

New Mexico isn't complaining but Alford started the downward spiral and Licklitter did nail the coffin shut.

But Alford, at least while he was in Iowa City, was an insufferable a$$. He turned off a lot of people and kids and staff. Lickliter just sucked--true enough there.

But the Hawkeyes are on a good path. I think McCaffrey is a good coach.

Better to get some run in the NIT, tweak a few things and come out swinging next season. An 11 or 12 seed or play-in game doesn't do any good except I guess to recruits and Fran would've gotten a BIG BONUS just for making it. 

Karma bit us in the A$$ with Alford.  We run Dr Tom Davis out of town, who bled Black and Gold for the young, hot-shot, slick haired devil himself.  The school wasn't happy with Dr Tom's annual trips to the Dance and 2-3 win post seasons.  Fans have a short memory tho and arenas soon fill up with winning teams.  I don't think we'll see attendance like we've had the last 7-8 years during Fran's time here.

I agree that Lucifer started the spiral for us, but Lick finished us with the brackish, backwater, fall asleep in the stands style of BB that made talent RUN AWAY.

I feel really good about what Coach Mac has going in IC, but with this fourth recruiting year under his belt, we'll finally be out of the hole.  Until this thread, I had already forgotten about the last 2 HCs in Iowa City...

Just want to say, in the past week I have had some differences with some of the Iowa fans (yes Hawkeye especially you) as, I am an Illinois fan. I never said I didn't like Iowa, nor did I ever say they weren't a good team. On the contrary, I think they could be competive in the the tournament with most teams, yes even Illinois. All I was saying was based on the this years body of work, I felt Illinois did more than Iowa. 

With that said, I know some Iowa fans hope Illinois loses in the first round, or sorse, and that's fine, that's your choice. I will pull for Iowa and the Big Ten. Go Hawkeyes!

I doubt many Iowa fans are rooting for ANY of the B10 teams to lose in the Tourney, I'm certainly not.  I'm not much of a "conference homer", but it's logical for all B1G teams to want their conference mates to do well in the post season.

A little info for you...when you go to another team's message board, like you've been doing with Iowa, and start talking crap, you are going to experience differences..jus sayin.
