Bynumb's Season Is Over

March 20, 2013 4:33 pm

In case you didn't hear, Bynumb's season is over because of season ending artheroscopic surgery.  I feel bad for him, but am really glad he is gone from the Lakers.  The question is does Philadelphia resign him to a maximum contract. I think I would offer Bynum a max contract with an team option that kicks in after the first year, so that Philadelpha guarantees him for the first year, but has a team option on the last four years of his contract. That way if it doesn't work out - they can dump him and honestly that is a big risk by itself even though it's worth it. Mabe have the option to waive the contract by the time season starts just in case he isn't any closer then right now

I think Bynum will be the biggest freeagent risk this offseason. The man when healthy is worth a max deal but he is made of glass just like Greg oden. I wouldn't risk giving him a big contract but there will be some teams desperate for a player like Bynum and offer him that contract. Good luck to who ever that will be, cause they will need it.

Don't see Howard staying in LA since the Lakers will be in rebuild mode.

Howard is the main pillar of the rebuild for the Lakers. I doubt he goes to Dallas for less money. Dallas will more or less be rebuilding their team this summer as Dirk is about all they have signed through next season.

I don't see Bynum getting a max long term contract this summer. With the full new CBA kicking in this summer and his gimpy knees, he'll be lucky to get a raise let alone a max one.

At this point if Philly wants to keep him, they should offer Bynum a contract extension 3 years/30 million - Actually I think the Lakers were prepared to offer him that last summer. Now Bynum would be lucky to get that. I think 26 million/3 years is the best he is worth because Bynum could end up like Jermaine Oneal after his surgery

Regrettably I have to agree with HMS on something.  I'm sick of Lakers fans dogging Drew, calling him "Bynumb" is ridiculous after the way he worked to develop his game in LA.  Remember when he was just a tall, fat kid with a soft touch?  He worked extremely hard in LA not only to develop into the best offensive center in the game but also to fight back from several knee injuries and come back stronger every time.  Seems like Lakers fans would show a little more respect for the guy.

Lakers picked a really good time to dump Bydumb - he really wasn't that relevent in the 2009 championship, and was mediocre in 2010. Injury prone and another Greg Oden

There were a lot of Lakers fans that wanted Bynumb traded years ago because he was injury prone by the way. Very few fans thought he was a franchise player that would hold up

I'm not talking about durability or a max deal.  I'm talking about respect for what he did for the Lakers.  Show some.

Bydumb is gone - and if mocking him a bit really irks the Heat fans - let's just say that's a good thing to knowLaughing

Either way Bynum became ByDumb when he threw his knee out bowling and didn't have even a clue that about what was acceptable.  That was as bad as Radmonovich throwing his shoulder out skiing in Salt Lake City

It's also pretty ridiculous for a Heat fan, of all fans, to come in here talking about asterisk championships when the one they got last year was in a lockout shortened season.

Do you even know where the term "asterisk championship" came from?

Now you're being rediculous - He's a Heat fan.  Heat fans are stupid in here and are merely trolls
