Wow, that TigerDroppings site is well named. LOL I've never seen such a hotbed of insanity and sour grapes, and I've seen plenty of that over 45 years of being a CFB fan. LOL Really ... Miles was complicit in losing the game because ESPN and others wanted Bama to win it? Really?????
Then there were all the "Well, you just beat us because it was the 2nd game in a season in a big rivalry" guys. I could use some other points of view here. I've was born in Birmingham and I've been a Bama fan since I knew what football was. Around me, Tennessee is a rivalry. Auburn is a rivalry. LSU was always just another team that Bama beats. I mean, through history Bama wins two of every three, and it was somewhat worse that than until Bama's "down decade" of the 00'x. I expect Saban to set matter straight and start running the winning percentage up again.
I read some more of their BS. This is why Alabama is a successful and class program in the long terms and others are not. In 1972 Alabama convincingly defeated 11 straight teams. They played Nebraska in the Orange Bowl and were humiliated. It was the most disappointed I've ever been, before or since, watching a football game. I never heard one word said agaisnt the team or Bryant after that game. Bob Devaney and his team jsut had our number that night. Bama went into that game nervous, just like LSU did Monday night. Another factor, it was one of Bryant's early triple option teams. Nebraska had seen plenty of triple option from Oklahoma and Texas. They were prepared and gave us nothing. Bryant went on to set what I believe is still an all time record for wins in a decade with 103 in the 70s. He wasn't exactly a bum because Nebraska won that night.
LSU has no in-state rival, and since Ole Miss has sucked since 1970, I guess they're desperate for a rival. Like you, I don't consider them a true rival ala UT or AU. They're a semi-rival of circumstance due to the quality of our teams. Like we briefly had with UF recently or PSU back in the '80's.
One of their fans called this game a program defining loss, which got me to thinking. The '09 SECCG certainly had a huge impact on the Gator program, and they have yet to recover It would be awesome to think of this game as LSU's equivalent, but unlike UF, they have a lot of talent coming back next season. Still, Miles seeming inability to gain the fanbase's trust could signal the beginning of the end. Could he join the list of coaches that were outprocessed by Saban:
Tommy Bowden Houston Nutt at Ark Phil Fulmer Sylvester Croom Tommy Tubbervillle Urban Meyer Houston Nutt at UM
