LOCK THREAD CONCEPT -

This thread has been created for all of us to share our expertise with everyone else to benefit the group.

THIS IS NOT A PICKING CONTEST!

PLEASE make special note of this!!! If you have an area of expertise - Pac-10, AFC East, Big East, NHL, etc. - please make some LOCK choices from your area of expertise when you have a game you are confident enough in to call it a "LOCK". The difference between a PICK and a LOCK is that a PICK is a game you like, a LOCK is a game that you KNOW. We are here to help each other win. If you are claiming your choice is a LOCK, and you really have NO true knowledge of that game, then you are just cheating us and posting your PICK just for attention and to see your name on the board.

RULES FOR POSTING -

I take it upon myself to donate my time and track everybody's LOCK every day, as long as you agree to do your part by doing a few simple things. I will not track your picks if you do not follow these rules. You are welcome to still post your PICK or card, but unless you do the things below, I won't be putting your LOCK on the spreadsheet.

- Post only 1 LOCK per day.  You may post a MAXIMUM of 4 LOCKS per week.  A week starts on Monday, and ends on Sunday.  Choose NCAA, NBA, NFL, or NHL.  You do not have to stay in one sport.  Spread them around if you like.

- No "buying" points.

- First half lines are OK.  No second half or quarter lines.  We want the LOCKS posted early enough so we can all benefit.  Time constraints make second half lines too tough to track.

- No other "line-manipulations: like teasers, etc.

- No props.

- No moneylines.

- Hockey and soccer plays need to be -129 or better.  No HUGE favorites for LOCKS.  If you have a -200 line or something, take the -1.5 goals if you feel like it is still a LOCK.

- Do not try to cheat on lines. We, as a group, are all over the lines and every time someone gives a stinky spread, it is always called out. If the line is off, the LOCK doesn't go into the spreadsheet.

And, THE MOST IMPORTANT RULE!

You must give an original explanation as to why you KNOW this LOCK will win. And don't just "stat" us to death. Tell us about the game. And if you are going to try and fool us by cutting and pasting from another website, at least figure out how to remove all the HTML and other garbage. People on this thread are all over the internet and will find your plagiarism. I guarantee it. You can use Last 10, ATS, etc., numbers to support your argument, but stats from a gambling website are not an explanation. They are stats that any of us can get anywhere on the internet. Also, how about if you have actually SEEN the team play that you pick. I'd say that if you haven't seen a team play at least a few times, you can't really be an expert on said team.

I will try to get CONSENSUS statistics out before the first tips each day around 3:40 PM, PST.  There is no guarantee, however.

Not here to say "I told you so" but I'm glad someone finally saw the TRUTH. Sneaky I except your apology, same to you Kurtis and the many others who said sorry or pmd me. I'm glad no one sent him any money (or did anyone get sucked in). It was only a matter of time. I'm going to keep to my word and keep things positive. With tonights over 88 umass/ RI in the 2nd half. I think they hit 109. I am 3-0 in the last three nights. I hope some of you followed my 3 plays but if you haven't I will continue to post winners. I won't post 12 doublers a night like unlv but I will post a game a night unless I don't like anything. Thanks to everyone who apologized. The truth will set you free. Unlv, you can always come here to explain your actions (TRUTHFULLY) and say you are sorry. If you go back to your old ways of picking at 80% clip the board will soon forget and forgive you. BUT, don't ever refer anyone to BETUS or any other site and DON"T ever ask anyone for money.

Going to get my lock in early tonight/today because I see the line is already moving up.

LOD:  DENVER NUGGETS @CHICAGO BULLS

First of all, this line is a steal and I don't know what it will be by the time everyone places their wagers on it, but it opened at nuggets -2.5 and I've seen it at -3.5 so far on betus.  The nuggets are 9-4 ats their last 13 games with those losses coming @ orlando, vs utah, @ new orleans, and @ the lakers.  Not bad, considering these are 3 of the best teams in the west, and a rising team in the east.  Also, 3 of them were on the road.  Denver is 16-6 against the east, 15-7 ats, and chicago is 6-17 vs the west, and 8-15 ats.  Expect anthony and iverson to dominate the scoring and camby to dominate the boards, as usual, with the absence of wallace, smith on the inside.  The nuggets have went over 100 pts in 8 of the last 9 games, and I don't see chicago, who only averages 94ppg to keep up with them, especially if they are short.  Two teams going in opposite directions, roll with the hot, better team.

LOD:  NUGGETS -2.5

5-4 so far on locks (won 2 straight), looking confidently at 6-4.

Damn, started writing my lock a while ago while researching, and when I finally post it, you guys have caught it also.  Great work!!!

Germany 2nd Bundesliga:

FC Köln vs 1860 Munich Over2.5 goals -115

Köln has scored 38 goals in league play, which is good for 2nd most of all teams in 2nd Bundesliga, while 1860 has scored 31 (tied for 5th most). Kölns defense is just average and they were scored upon 3 times last week at Aachen and looked pretty shaky on defense. 1860 has the 2nd best defense so far, but today they will be missing both their starting inside defenders (both suspended because of a red card and the 5th yellow card) and in addition to that their right defender is also doubtful. Because of that they even had too add two amateurs and a guy from their youth squad to eventually fill in on that position. With both Berhalter and Thorandt (inside defenders), 1860 should have trouble containing Colognes two top goalgetters Novakovic and Helmes.

With 1860 missing almost their whole defense, I will take the over in this one because Cologne should be able two score at least 2 times with its strong offense and Colognes shaky defense is also offering a good chance of adding another goal to that over.

In addition to that Cologne should have the full support of their home fans today: Some of their hardcore fans started a campaign to unite the crowd and make sure that the fans keep supporting their team no matter how good or bad the game is going on. In their last few games often times the home crowd started to boo, when Cologne couldnt score and grab an early lead and then someone played a bad pass or lost the ball. This is definately not the deciding point for me to take that over, but I think this will help the home team since they dont have to worry about the atmosphere and their fans.

Adding more info to my lock of denver.  Basically what the records and ats stats mean is that if denver wins against the east, they cover being 16-6 su, and 15-7 ats.  The same for chicago, 6-17 vs the west, 8-15 ats.  So if you think denver is gonna win, they probably will cover also, and if you think chicago will win, they well of course, will cover.  Did that last part make any sense?  Oh well.  The nuggets are also averaging 110.3 ppg over the last nine games and are 30-7 when they score at least 100 pts.  Keep in mind they just put up 124 against the celtics, while the bulls just lost in ot to new jersey without kidd.   Denver is 5-2 ats in the last seven meetings at chicago.

yeah i tripled my bet on Denver... Im not playing IVY again... and the only other bet will be on my cavs...

I really dont understand this line... Its too late for a Denver trade, which was talked about with Ron Artest, and the bulls arent good with the players they had.. this is either the best cover up trap bet Ive ever seen, or someone see's a bulls playoff push, that NOBODY else is aware of.

When something is too good to be true it ends up usually not to be true, looks like so is the case with UNLV.  A lot of people where on is dick, always coming online asking for his picks.  Don't we teach our kids to be aware of online predators, guess what guys scam artist and scums prey on all types so I hope this reaffirms a lesson to us all, their are some downright a$$holes out their that will sell their soul to make a buck.

Most the time I play may own plays, not making a living out of it but am up a little for the college b-ball season.  I do tail some picks, but the key is to know who to tail.  I did tail UNLV once in awhile but only if I agreed with his play.  No way would I put my hard earned money on someone's else enitre card who makes his playes via a simualtor.  If anyone was so good at capping games and trying to make a living doing it they wouldn't be on this thread, they would be in Vegas making a living doing it.  

My guess is most people on this thread are like myself, male, middle class, between 21-40 not struggling to make a living but also won't be on lifestyle of the rich and famous anytime soon.  If you can afford to be betting mutple dimes on games good for you, your probably better off than 99% of us. I like most, like to earn the extra cash but probably more importantly most of us played sports growing up and still yearn for competition so we use gambling to satisfy that need.  Also it is an outlet from the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives.

I never talked to anyone from this thread on the phone and rarely if at all pm anyone but I do feel like there are some very decent guys on here that I wouldn't mind throwing a couple back with and watching the games.  I think we can continue this thread as it was intended for, to share info and bounce ideas off it each other.

Finally as far s BETUS goes or any other online sportsbook for that matter, I hate to say it but 99% of them have affiliate programs.  They're a business and trying to make money and what's the best form of advertising...... word of mouth.  The best way not to give them our money is to continue to help each other picking winners.
