I made enough money to buy Miami
But I pissed it away so fast

A Pirate Looks At 40 - Jimmy Buffett

But i don't want to land in new york city
Don't want to land in mexico (no no no)
Don't want to land on no three mile island
Don't want to see my skin aglow (no no no)

Volcano - Jimmy Buffett, who no doubt was channeling his inner Harry Belafonte. Good double play

Closed the shop, sold the house
Bought a ticket to the West Coast
Now he gives them a stand-up routine in L.A.

One day near Salinas, Lord, I let him slip away
Me and Bobby McGee  --  Janis Joplin   Written by Kris Kristofferson and originally recorded by Roger Miller.

I thought the backstory on this classic was interesting:

In the original version of the song, Bobby is a woman; Janis Joplin, who was a lover and a friend of Kristofferson's from the beginning of her career to her death, changed the sex and a few of the lyrics in her cover. Kristofferson states he did not write this song for her, but the song is associated with her—most especially, he has said, in his line "Somewhere near Salinas, Lord, I let her slip away."

In a conversation with 'Two-Lane Black' director Monte Hellman called "Somewhere Near Salinas", available in the supplements to the Two-Lane Blacktop Criterion Collection DVD release (a film in which Kristofferson's version is used on the soundtrack), Kristofferson states that the film La Strada was an inspiration for the song and remarks on the irony of how a song inspired by a classic "road movie" should come to be used in another.

I've got an entire story on my thoughts on the film Two-Lane Blacktop, but that's for another time.

Trumped !!!

Poke, Great job on your previous three consecutive doubles with Steely Dan, Jimmy Buffett and Billy Joel.

It makes the game the game better with connections as opposed to random places. Well done!

Chicago (We Can Change The World)  --  Graham Nash

Any song by the band Chicago would make a natural follow-up,
but I just posted the following lyrics less than an hour ago on Rock's WAYLT thread
and they will again be posted on The HereAfter Game.  RIP Alvin:

I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you.

New Orleans Rag - Bob Dylan. Hey Rhino, this week I heard Jungleland twice. Curious, is that among your Springsteen top 5. It sure is a tremendous piece with various changes and movements. Off the top of my head, I'd say its from Born to Run.

Can't you see the sunshine?

And, ain't it just like a friend of mine

Carolina In My Mind  --  James Taylor

(Punk version)
Nothing could be finer than to be in her vaginer, in the morning
No one could be sweeter than my sweetie when I eat her in the morning

Where the morning glory hole, Tires out the whore
Whispering raunchy stories, I long to hear no more

(Old standard - 70's TV variety show cover)
Strolling with my girlie where the dew is pearly early in the morning,
Butterflies all flutter up and kiss each little buttercup at dawning,
If I had Aladdins lamp for only a day,
I'd make a wish and here's what I'd say:
