Just stop, the Packers rule and you all know itIt's all about health and how a team plays in the playoffs. If come playoff time, the Packers are healthy and playing like they are now, I like their chances. Still a long time before the playoffs roll around. |

Hell, Jedi, add the Brewers while you're at it.
![]() Happy Birthday to Brandon Weeden, who turned 28 today. He's Oklahoma State's starting QB. Weeden is 49 days older than Aaron Rodgers and older than 14 QBs who started for an NFL team in week 1 of the 2011 season. He got a $565,000 signing bonus after going in the second round of the 2002 MLB Draft, so the car he's driving around in might actually NOT be paid for by a booster. |

Cat,
The Flyers are good but you have buried the Birds too early IMO. There are a lot of new moving parts and if the LBs pick it uyp they can sneek into the playoffs. If you get in you can get on a roll.. Let's at least play out the season.. Now I'll post after the Iggles win to renew the comments above. Thats's confiddence!!!!! LOL |

Dang, I miss a few days and the home town Cardinals get bagged on...oh well, they are in the WS and no other NL team is, same is true for the Rangers. The 2011 Cardinals are the greatest comeback in any sport in history, down 10.5 just to get in the playoffs and now in the WS. Give em some credit. They better not have to rely on this bullpen all series though.
Iowa finally beat NW this past weekend, banner year for the Hawkeyes...I still see a long road though. Lil - sorry for your loss Catfish - are you finally feeling better? If not, this may commiserate with you a bit, I took my daughters fishing and got poison ivy. I am allergic to poison ivy. It is all down my right leg starting at the waist band to knee and parts over and when I say parts over, I mean parts over. Also on hands and arms...had to get a cortisone shot today after a steroid prescription already. Hundreds of thousands of blisters...ugh. Lil - just kidding, I love that the Cardinals won, but hey your Packers won. 1 for 2 isn't bad, but...it was the Rams. Phoggy - smack a kid in the head for me, just for fun Khep - What's up with the Bills? Get them back in the win column. Go Shonn Greene tonight! |

Khep - What's up with the Bills? Get them back in the win column. On the bright side, they are 4-2. They only won 4 games all of last year so quite obviously they are vastly improved. Two losses on the road by a FG each to couple of 4 win teams is alright with me at this point. Unfortunately their next game is at Thr Rogers Centre in Toronto after the bye. They are winless in three regular season games up there. A home game at the Ralph is a true advantage. I think half the folks will be rooting for the Redskins up there. These games go right down to the wire, they probably won two they shouldn't have (Patriots & Raiders) and lost two they could of won (Bengals, Giants). Go Bills. SU/WVU Friday night at the Dome. The Cuse could be in a heap a trouble in this one. Hopefully their week off helped for preperation purposes because they will be out-athleted. Go Orange! |

The Cards can do the impossible and beat C. J. Wilson. Belief is one third of accomplishment.

Lil - sorry for your lossThanks. The Brewers lost two at home. They play way too poorly on the road, to overcome that sort of thing. The Cardinals simply outplayed them. Note to Ron Washington: Don't pitch to Albert Pujols if the game is even close to being on the line. 2nd Note to Ron Washington: You may want to pay attention to only the first four words of the above sentence. ![]() |

hawk-if the phils dump 1 of those games to atlanta, the cards don't get in. i don't call that a comeback at all. more like luck. and sorry for the poison ivy. lube up pal. i still have a lingering cough at times, but i am on the mend. got a free flu shot today from work. missouri is out and the big east wants $10 for navy and af to be football only ?? gadzooks man, before you get eaten alive by the acc and big 10 - just take whatever teams you can to stay alive ! don't be greedy - take whatever you can get ! dummies. |

Catfish I agree if the Phillies dump 1, but they didn't so you have to give the Cardinals credit for winning to get there, but then when they got to the playoffs they kept winning. If this team wins the World Series, you have to agree that is amazing. This team sucked in July. No one thought with Wainwright gone that they would do anything and now they have a chance.
Missouri is starting to really hack me off to be honest. Lil didn't get the jab I made in the previous post I guess...it's ok. I am rooting for the Badgers to get there though, stupid SOS and computer polls, I yearn for the old days sometimes. We don't need 90 bowls, just pare it down to 20 and be happy. |

Chris Carpenter will set the pace with a W in Game One. All the experts are picking TX in 6 and they will all act like they never wrote or uttered those words. |

A pox on those who dare discredit the wonder that is Carpenter and his magnificent Red Birds. Nelson Cruz will go hitless and fold like a taco with runners in scoring position.

Well let's just say Carpenter has a Cy Young and the only other person in the Series with that distinction is Nolan Ryan and he is not pitching. At least I am pretty sure no one else has one.
Bad - found a great trivia question for you...now no cheating...or anyone else. What person has won the most World Series? Hint it was a player coach... Player only I believe Yogi and Joe D are tied at 10...this guy has 17. Had never heard of him to be honest, but after reading a bit more, very impressive. |

?? joe d? he played 13 years or less and missed 4 yrs due to the war. yogi won over 11 rings and snuck another 1 in as a coach for the 69 mets.
17 as a manager. gotta be some old yankee fart. i love how cbs and danny knobler are all over st. louis now as the dream opponent for texas. please. get real and get off the crack! it's a fluke run like their last one and the rockies one in 07. hawk - you and your poison ivy - get away! |

The only decent man associated with the Rangers is Nolan Ryan and I really want Texas to be messed with and dumped into the Gulf of Mexico.
Meet me in Saint Looie, baby and win one for Red Schoendienst! Frankie Crosetti was the third base coach for the Bombers forever and without looking it up; he's my goomba choice! Rangers blanked the Canucks last night! |

Crosetti is correct, 17 rings, sheesh, interesting story and sounds like a genuinely nice guy. 8 as a player, 9 as 3rd base coach.
Bad and I united in baseball, who would have thought that? Catfish - see what happens when you root for Texas? The itching shall commence until the WS is over. |

My Mom who was a big NY Giant fan back in the day always talked about Frankie Crosetti and what a friendly fixture he was for the Bombers in the coach's box next to third sackers Andy Carey and Cletis Boyer. Imagine how many thousands of runners he waved home. Crosetti was on the field so many years for the Yanks he almost became invisible. A great example of how to keep a low profile and rack up seventeen World Series rings. He worked for Casey Stengel and Ralph Houk among others. He had pinstripes in his blood. Only Muslims root for Texas. |
